I do not own one, my sister was asking me about them and I told her I’d go to my source. She lives in California but bought a house in PA and renovations are coming to a close. She’s grown tired of the lifestyle out there….took her long enough!

So what kind do you all use? Large or small. What are pros and cons about the type you own?

Mine has stackable trays. Easier to clean up vs dehydrating in the oven. Works better than the old gas stoves that were not digitally temperature controlled.

We have an American Harvester brand made by Nesco. Have had it for 20 years or so and still works good. The trays get brittle over time but are replaceable.
Use it mostly for venison jerky now as we bought a freeze dryer a couple years back. If using for jerky, spray the trays with non-stick oil as it makes cleanup a lot easier.

Anything without the junky plastic stackable trays. They are a pain to clean eacpecially if your jerkey is sticky from sugar. The turn yellow if you spray them with oil & get brittle. I tried pressure washing them and that was the last straw. I upgraded to a 10 tray meat! with stainless racks & it works alot better, more even drying, quicker, & easy cleanup. Also they are running a sale now.

We have an Excalibur and have had it over a decade. Wife drys herbs in it and makes jerky in it mostly

Have not had a problem with it.

Make sure it gets to at least 160 degrees for jerky

Spray non-stick on your trays before using.

I have a meat brand and a lem the meat brand is allot better than lem.

Basically what I have as well. I think I have 8-10 trays. I rotate them part way through. This is just just some ground meat deer jerky. Made from pieces too small to slice.

6 tray cabelas dehydrator. Works great. Has different temp settings.

We've got one made by Mr coffee.5 tray just made some jerky last wed night.

I just put whatever on cookie sheets and set them next to the wood stove, dry's anything pretty quick! You can dump applesauce on wax paper to make fruit leather too.
