75 yd rifle shot thru the riverbottom timber this afternoon about 1645 hrs in southwest Georgia.

This was my last legal opportunity for antlers in the 2025 season. This was a bonus quality buck hunt on a 2400 acre state WMA. Was one of 35 hunters drawn to hunt there for 4 days. Today was first day of hunt. Buck limit is one.

To be legal on this area a buck has to have a minimum of 4pts on one side an inch or longer OR a 15" minimum outside spread.

This ol'boy met both requirements.

Had to watch him meander thru the bottom for about 10 minutes and 50 yds before I could make sure he was legal.

It's been a great deer season. I'm blessed way more than I deserve.





Now I've got to do some doe killin' on my lease b4 season ends in January.

Been another fantastic season.

61 yrs old....killed 2 bucks and a doe with the Mathews Triax.

Killed 2 bucks with the 7mm-08.

Was able to take the best buck that I knew about on my lease.

Was able to take another big buck (with a bow) in north Missouri...thanks to my buddy out there.

Was able to hunt a lot with my cousin this season. We are more like brothers.

Figured I've only got a few more years left of bowhunting & searching for mature bucks to hunt so as long as I can do it....I'm not gonna stay home when I could be in a tree watching a deer trail laced with big rubs and scrapes.

My grip is weaker than I prefer and my knees are barely allowing me to walk any distance, but as long as I can go...I'll endure the pain....until I can no longer.
