Dad got a new .243 and has been complaining about ammo prices with his .308 ... Man doesn't shoot much at all.... picked 50pc of .243 another 50 of .308 ... 2 boxes 50rd each should last him the next two decades laugh

I used to shoot a lot. Today not so much. I always dreamed of having more than a 59 or 100 yard place to shoot at home( have had at least one of those since i moved out on my own. Today I have a 500 yard range at home and never use it. I probably don't shoot 100 rounds a year. Most of that is checking zero on the kids guns oe shooting rimfire with the kids. If I am honest with myself I could pick a single rifle out of any of them at the house and I have enough ammo for any of them to meet my deer hunting needs the rest of my life if I only use that one gun consistently. That would be if I tagged out each year, and a few shots each year to check zero. definitely more than 100 rounds but enough for my hunting needs

I never thought that would happen. Don't know when the switch occurred from having barrels set back just front shooting working uo loads chasing the perfect groups to hardly shooting but it did. Yet I was still checking on primer and powder prices and sales for black Friday. The above statement is loaded ammo not counting the 60+ lbs of powder probably 10k primers and thousands of cases bullets and brass not put together sitting on the shelf. I'm like a squirrel when it comes to ammo.

I like to shoot a bit more than that but , some people use 2-3 to confirm zero before season and then shoot some deer then buy a box for next year when they go on sale.

they use 4-5 rounds out of a box and put it in their sock drawer till next season or if there is a wood chuck in the garden.

if he uses 5 rounds a year 100 rounds is 20 years worth.

Yep , remember having a bit of a conversation with him about some of the new calibers when I built his 6mm ARC ( which is loves ). His main deal was " I'll just stick with the classic so I'll always be at to find ammo" I just said dad ... You shoot 10rd a year if that , you could get whatever wizbang round you'd like buy 200rd and you'd be set for life so who cares ? He looking at me and went " ya know...you have a point"

I just ordered a 500 round case of 243 ammo to give to the Grandkids for Christmas last night. Kids need ammo.

Except for control work, I probably don’t shoot more than 50 rounds a year. All I use for my own hunting is my longbow. That said, I’ll probably shoot better than 500 rounds tonight!

I don't shoot much, I figure a box of 30-30 works out to about 12 or so deer with a few extra for confirming zero.... We get a buck tag, and pay for a antler-less deer in a lottery, unless you get a bow permit, that's it. so a box lasts a few years.... grin

Very similar here used to shoot up probably 100 rounds a week in numerous rifles and hand guns now doubt 10 per week still have enough loaded to outfit squad in combat and now with the makings for the entire company, I my son and grandkids are set even if things so sideways, and still load over 100 per week still purchase when on sale, love it when can get in bulk at reduced prices need a cart to just get it to the rig
Asking how much ammo is enough is liking asking how much chocolate is enough.

He just prefers to stock pile ammo instead of shoot why idk , just the way he is. Can get him to shoot though some .22 lr eveyone and then but for the most part , even when we're just trying to blow some rounds he'll shoot like 10 maybe then just be like " ok im done don't wanna waste anymore ammo " . just how he is

Wolfie, I was that way and thought I’d never run out of ammo…then I started thermal hunting! Add in CJ getting into hunting and just liking to go shoot and I’ve realized my lifetime supply is only good if I plan on only living a few more years!!! Back to stockpiling!!!

That's a pile of ammo for a deer hunting rifle. I salute you.

2000 rounds of ammo for a 6.8 western if you get 2K more probably need a spare barrel for the second 2K
