Retirement has been a whole new adventure and journey for me. I adjusted like a duck to water and has been a good thing for me. Having a plan is number one thing to have going into retirement. Good for You.

Great plan. I could live with that plan as well.

Shooting for 60, got 9 more years. My numbers should all work out unless we have 3-4 years of bad markets.

Certainly not trying to speed up the clock, but I’ve been obsessed with it more and more of late.

my dad has been fishing 2-3 days a week as weather allows for his retirement he goes to FL after Christmas till we are open water again.

I am thinking fish till pheasant opens the do that 2-3 days a week as weather allows , then gun deer and back to pheasant. maybe a little ice fishing in a shanty till it warms up enough to open water fish.

we will have to see , but that sounds like a plan.

I'm glad your enjoying it. I retired in 2008 after 38 and a half years with AT&T. The biggest thing is one has to stay busy. The wife and I fish a lot and I still trap and hunt all thou not as much as I used to. This mite sound a little goofy but one thing I really enjoy is just sitting down with my wife and just talking about everyday things.

I've got about 28 years to get my retirement plans lined up. I'm thinking I'll fish until it's time to hunt, then hunt until it's time to trap.

Beautiful!!!
I know many that are so rich and still can't walk away from their title job. They just can't give up their status and think no one else can do their job better than them. Lol
There getting old and time is running out but it doesn't seem to matter to them. They will die in the harness but something that is more important to them.

I either have 15 or 18 years left depending

that will probably mostly depend on where I am getting health coverage from at the time.

if I don't change jobs I will either have 43 or 46 years in I am rolling up on 28 in a month.

my retirement doesn't probably look much different than working with adult kids , just fishing more days of the week and hunting more days.

right now I have enough vacation to take off a day a week during good fishing and hunting times that I can already hunt or fish 2-3 days a week

I got lucky when I retired. But it I almost feel more busy now than when I was working 24 hrs shifts.. but yep retirement is great!!! living by the seasons... early rifle season, archery season, rifle season, trapping season, bird season, ice fishing season, spring bird season, spring trapping season, open water season & firewood season. & then I'll have to check my calendar for an opening to start over again next year..
Best years of my life

Ya can't miss fur if yur traps are out somewhere.

I have 10 years 6 months and 21 days. Will be 56 and one month old. Like you my projections look good but are not guaranteed

The real kicker is if my health holds up or if MS gets worse. I may not be able to work as much and invest as heavy or may end up un able to work at all. Then there is even if it goes as planed will any of us been in the shape whan we get there to be able to do what we always planed.

I know for a fact right now ther is no way I'm able to pack an elk out at high altitude in rough country now let alone in 10 years for example. So don't do like i have and keep putting thing off tell some day or retirement because whan that comes we may not be able to do it any longer. So I now need a guide and more of a fluff full service hunt than the deep back country do it myself hunt I always dreamed about. Takes a lot of the appeal out of it and adds a lot of cost. Makes me lean tword small game and fishing trips instead. Sill can get the western experience but not have to get as remote or spends much.

Swamp any plans for hunting things other than whitetail?

Starting next season that is. Gotta get healed up good first

PF,
Other than spring gobblers (I'd like to complete the slam), I dont have much desire to hunt other game.

I would like to expand the whitetail hunting and hunt South Texas & Saskatchewan or Alberta with my bow.

Retired at 59 and now 61. Have done more trapping, hunting and fishing in the past 2 years than I was able to the last 10 years working. Best thing I ever did was retire early.
