That sucks for the entier area economy. Are they offering any job/skill training opportunities for those laid off?
Last time my plant had a lay off it was claimed due to international competition and the guys that got laid off qualified for up to years free school if it pick had job opportunity whan they finished . Some got associates degrees 2 I know got their CDL training paid for. All got jobs offered back within a year and half .

I thought it was a great opportunity.

They have not decided . what to do yet.

I heard about that. They are supposed to be transitioning to building green energy products for wind and solar and adding 600 more employees.

Sucks for the employees but good riddance to ford. 100’s of millions in hand outs from the state of Ky and Biden administration. They juggled part of the monies that was given to them to buy back their own stock driving the price up making it overpriced. Land was purchased by the STATE of Ky and given to ford as an incentive to build auto plant that was cancelled last year.
Think ford got around 880 million in hand outs

Don’t take much digging to find the stories since some always defend FMC

I know of some people from the NE that look forward to being laid off so they can state hop hunting deer.

When I worked construction I loved l layoffs during hunting seasion. It was just part of life working in the trades. Now that I have had almost 20 years of consistency and steady employment i don't know I ow I was so comfortable and did so much on so little. I sure had more of a life and more fun but less cash and security. But when you don't know what security is like ignorance is blissful. I always had tree work i was doing on the side and it was what keep us a float.

Today I would be up a creek if layed off. I can't do trees like I used to and I have to have health insurance due to the cost of MS. And the ms limits what I can do randomly.

If its like it used to be KY unemployment is higher than Indiana.
If that won't get you by it takes about 3k and 3 weeks to get your cdl and it seems like drivers are in demand. some of the schools offer financial aid so that may be available if there are no programs available do to the layoff.

That was my plan c before the MS.

The economy is sinking here, last few years have been bangers but its shifting. Charity giving has crashed, attendance at auctions is down, used equipment down. I don't know what's going on everywhere but expect to see more layoffs if the rest of the country is on the same trajectory
