I don't have one yet but they seem incredibly popular

what air frier do you have and what do you like or dislike about it?

I wouldn't normally think about getting one as I have no problem feeding myself without one but I am working on some recipe development and being it is a very popular kitchen tool these days that seems to bring a lot of time savings and simplicity I am thinking this might be something I should try so I can adapt recipes to it.

Ninja and Instapot are the two brands I am looking at as they seem the most common.
normally I wouldn't worry about common but if I develop recipes for obscure it doesn't really fit the goal.

do you have any input?
even if you know absolutely nothing about it and can just say what your wife has sitting on the counter if she has one that is beneficial.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

InstaPot. Once you air fry bacon, you won't do it any other way. Tater Tots, French Fries all come out great.

My Super Wide will pull your broken down 4 stroke, up a hill backwards, with you on it!

I'd be lost without mine. I use it daily. For everything from chicken/fish/pork chops to fries, pizza, toast and I've even done baked goods. Mine is a NuWave oven-type. I don't care for the basket type, as they just don't have enough room generally. Although I have been eye-balling the Ninja Crispi... but that would be in addition to, not in place of my regular one.

Mine is something like this: Link

I have this one: Instant Pot Vortex Plus 10-Quart Air Fryer Oven with 7-in-1 Cooking Functions and Accessories Included, Stainless Steel

Think it was ~$150

Its the oven style with 2 racks, not a basket.

We love it. From simple warm ups to ribeye steaks, it's easy and does a great job.

I'll say this, if it broke, I'd buy another one.

I don't, but the kids have them, they do use them sometimes, but not as much as when they first got them... Not sure why...I read that cleaning them can be an issue, but probably not worse than anything else, but I don't know...

I did read a news article that said theres' a new type of cooking utensil in the works that takes up less space and is easier to use and clean that will make the air fryer obsolete....

who knows, but good luck with your search.

I don’t like the taste of some of the things the wife cooks with it (could be the rat poison) I can’t think of a thing that taste better because of it really I’d take cast iron pan fried anyday

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

We have two of the Gourmia brand. Very easy to operate. Opt for larger one than you think you’ll need cause that’s what happened to us. Realized I can cook a whole chicken in one and we got our second shortly after that.
Simple to reduce temps in the middle of cooking or cover something with foil.
I guess that’s the only bad thing. The fan will blow the foil around if you don’t apply it tightly. And forget trying to make a grilled cheese in one because it’ll blow the bread all over creation

We have one, finally took it off the counter and packed it away because it didn't get used.

I don't care for food cooked in it.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

I never had a use for one. Christine bought a new/used 7 qt Power XL air fryer on marketplace for $10. I didn't use it for 4 or 5 months, just set in the corner of the kitchen counter. Tried it to make a grilled pork chop one day, delicious. Today, I wouldn't think about not using it for pork chops, steaks, chicken wings, warming egg rolls, etc.

Well Savell, we'd welcome you up to cook for us outside in sub 0 weather, but you'll have to bring your own cold weather gear and an extra bag of charcoal to get the grill up to cooking temp. laugh

They are just convection ovens.the technology has been around for a long time.just re branded as "air fryers" you used to could get em that looked like microwaves.now they are expensive little basket contraptions or little tiny rack ovens.

We use ours all the time. Mainly for tot/fries and reheating stuff. Heats fast and gets things crisp again with reheating unlike the microwave. Oven can serve the same purpose but of course would take way longer and probably more energy in the end. Ours is just whatever had good reviews on Amazon.
About the smell: Search the internet on how to initially clean them as at first you need to gook off the factory oil film on the heating elements (Same thing with new electric ovens). It does make a smell during the initial cleaning heat process. Also put a cut up lemon in there to help.
