Take some beaver meat/ fat ..and rub that leaning pole with it .
Beaver meat is best.
I heat up a jar of petroleum jelly until just liquid..
Then dump an ounce of pure quill in the petroleum jar...put the lid on
And let it get back to its regular consistency.
You might want to do this outside .
Then ...at your set...smear a good dab of that jelly about 2 feet higher than your trap.
And smear it on the underside of the pole

If all you have is Deer Parts for bait...
Take a little beaver lure ...and rub it on the deer bait .

Man do I know a spot for a pole set. Tracks in the "zone" Instant dispatch No nontargets No freeze down What could go wrong?
I have some extra secret bait if youns want some. I won't mail it.
Good luck with the trophy.

Beaver is far better than deer. Add a dab of "Skunk Junk" up high and some "tree climber" in the box and then wait.
I have nothing clever to put here.

I've only caught 2 fishers in all my time trapping. So, I'm no expert on fisher trapping. Both of them were caught using beaver meat for bait.

Skippy, probably a few different reasons for elevated sets. Trap size and type, reduce potential of domestics (hounds), keeps traps functioning in high snowfall areas, and maybe to target certain species. Plus each state has different regs. for legal sets. ^^^^^^^ this. Here in NH we can legally set a 160 on the ground. . But in certain areas ...a 160 on a running pole ( 5 feet above ground ) is a Smaaht choice to avoid dogs. And also ..the Pole set works in deep snow...where a cubbie would be buried.. We only get the month of December to fisher trap. My best year was 11 fisher...( Limit was 15 back in 2001)...then reduced to 10 limit... Then a limit of 5..... For the last 3-4 years it's been reduced to 2 fisher
