The transfer portal........knew it was bad......just not how bad. Not sure how this is ever going to get fixed.

So month or so back, news reports surfaced of U of MO transfer football player (transferred to MO from GA) who was being sued by U of Georgia over contract (?) violation. U of Georgia wanted their $300,000 back. Wait....what? $300,000? That sounds like pro ball?

So starting QB for MO this year was also a transfer.....this time from Penn State.........who played until he was hurt. Then at end of season, prior to bowl game, announced he was again entering transfer portal to go play somewhere else. Say what? Why would he leave a ranked SEC team? Talked to some people recently who claimed to know and was told he got more money to go elsewhere. How much money? As per my source, was being PAID by MU alumni to tune of around $1M. Yes......that was ONE MILLION $$$$$$$. Apparently, some other school needs a good QB and has offered him double that.

OK, now it makes sense. Are these transfer players are going to highest bidder. Anyone else able to confirm this and are these numbers really that high?

If true, then between legal sports betting and this, as far as I'm concerned, it's over. Unless rules are put in place to get control of all this, it's over. Every pro sport I'm aware of has a draft and players and teams sign contracts. If all this is true, what is going on in college ball right now is the reason why. .

It was a much better game when all of this was still done under the table.

Nebraskas QB Raiola is leaving too cuz his Uncle was relieved of his coaching duties. Not that Raiola is a big deal.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

How about a transfer once rule and cap on the money a school can pay? That cap should be the same for all schools.

I too knew it was going to be bad and yes even worse than I thought. We follow college basketball a lot (KU). We have a player on his 4th school. Problem is how do they claw this back from the players and all who are benefiting? I say you can transfer once, team pulls out of a bowl game then the next year they aren't eligible for any, $50K per year income, rest goes to the schools general scholarship fund.

I don’t watch sports anymore. The kneeling for the anthem was the last straw after the St. George Floyd debacle, but I did read something the other day. It was Iowa or Ohio only had 17 players left for next year and only one starter coming back. What a complete mess. And yes I do miss watching

I'm not a big sports fan either. I used to watch college basketball a lot 30 to 40 years ago but I couldn't care less anymore. What passes for basketball now days isn't what I consider basketball then ad in the arrogance of the players and coaches and I can find other stuff to watch.

Never been a big football fan the only time it held my interest was if it was a passing team. I used to be a Cubs fan as well but I can't remember the last time I watched a pro baseball game. In all pro sports there's too much money being paid to the players, coaches and owners at the expense of the fans that do watch or attend. Sad to see college following the same path.

The little league world series is far more interesting to me. If I want to watch sports I guess that's what I got left.

How bout the schools don't make any money off an individual player. That's what started this.

Iowa State this year. Seems like it was Florida State a year or so back.......lost half the team, then had to play for national championship.......and may have used walk on players. Of course they got waxed big time. So what should have been a big game became a meaningless game, which is now par for the course for nearly all bowl games. U of MO played in Gater bowl last week, minus starting QB and wide receivers. Whole game was mute........which cheated fans, bowl people and TV broadcast. Going to a bowl game used to be a goal of most college teams. These days bowl games no longer matter.

Even if they leave it as is, players and coaches should be forced to finish their team's season. No transfers until Feb 1st following year. Coach that bagged on Ole Miss for LSU ought to have his head held under water until he stops kicking. That was a total disgrace.

Yeah when coach Campbell left isu they backed out of the bowl as they were afraid so many people would sit out that they may not be able to field a team, which pretty much is what happened now we get to go through multiple years of trying to rebuild, I agree that nobody should be able to leave or sit out as long as games are still to be played.

I would like to know what Carson Beck got to leave Georgia for Miami. As far as money, it's like the wild west. Pretty much anything goes now.

No cap on third-party "NIL" payments?

If these "amateur " athletes want to act like the "pro" athletes, let them go through a negotiation process with the universities and sign a contract for their education expenses, housing, food and additional "funding". The term of the contract would be for 4 years, or until their NCAA eligibility expires (under the current regulations). The question of trades as is commonly exercised in pro sports could be beneficial to both athlete and their chosen university.

I, like many on here, am tired of the merry-go-round in collegiate sports, especially football.

IF...there is all of the EXCESSIVE amounts of money being thrown around, I wonder what/how they are handling eligibility from game to game?
