I hope it can work for him. One of the best ways to make sure one gets job offers as NFL coaches is to get fired. It seems the more times one gets canned the better one's prospects become!

Tomlin wasn't that great.

I am not impressed. Hoping for a young, defense oriented up and comer not an old and has been. The hire was a blatant attempt to keep Rodgers who should have never been signed. GM needs to go also. Tomlin quit don't see how any hire can be an insult to him.

Maybe he will get a chanve to change McCarthy's play calls again with an audible or delay of game like when he played for the Packers. Going to be interesting to see which one blinks.

I do not understand the NFL and all the retreads. If it was me I am looking for a young up and comer to instill a fire. And I am Packer fan that likes McCarthy.

He had 3 straight 12-win seasons with the Cowboys, but could never get past the divisional playoff game.

McCarthy's regular season record is 174-112. Not bad. However, his playoff record is only average 11-11. McCarthy is a Pittsburgh native and grew up a Steelers fan.

It is kinda surprising that they went with an older coach, as they don’t change coaches very often.

Can't be much worse

I’m neutral on hiring McCarthy but don’t know who would have been better. I originally heard Chris Shula was the lead candidate then fell off the radar.

I don't see championships coming out of him as coach. I see it as a disaster.
