Is there a problem using 1/8 inch stainless steel cable for beaver drowning cables? My old cables really deteriorated badly, thinking stainless would be a better option. How about using them for Earth Anchors too?

Make sure you use copper ferrules on them.

Can you elaborate please? I’ve used aluminum on stainless and didn’t have a problem that I’m aware of.

Why would stainless cable be illegal for beaver drowners or cable stakes?

There are no regulations that I know of regulating drowners or anchors.

When they get wet, you get galvanic corrosion. If you're using them in dry environment, you probably wont have issues.

Because if not pulled or get lost, they stay there forever, will not rust up and break down.

If you boil your snares/cable to clean them, THEN wax them they last way longer. A Little Rally Hess tip right there!

All my traps now have a length of stainless for anchoring.
No good way (imo) to know when galvanized os rusting bad internally.
I've also added 15 for extensions so I can anchor high up incase of floods plus it's easier for me to pull a 50lb beaver from the top than crawl down and drag it back up.

From the looks of the responses I don't think guys are reading the opening post.

Stainless is only half the battle with beaver cable drowners.

Yes, they will last longer, but what really prolongs the life of a cable drowner is the composition of the cable

You need 7x19 cable. You can tie the stuff in a knot, untie it, and there's no memory.

7x7 cable, even if its stainless, sucks for beaver drowners.

I would rather have galvanized 7x19 cable for beaver drowners than stainless 7x7

Gotta live up to the nickname...
