Not stopping them heck it’s encouraging the action that can’t be legal. They're encouraging "peaceful protest", that's legal. Peaceful? They're there to impede, that ain't peaceful.
There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

However you slice it, the majority of people who live in sanctuary states or cities overwhelmingly approve of it. In some way isn't that how politics is supposed to work? Majority rules? They approve of it because they want them on their voter rolls so their side stays in power. If the Republicans said hey we will give every illegal immigrant $1,000 if you vote for us in the next election how fast do you think the left would change their opinion on ilegal immigrants? As far as ignoring federal law and taking the majority rules stance, I guess the same would apply if those outside the city, you know, us country folk, said we're fed up with it and declared civil war on the left and ran them all out of town. Majority rules right? Ol dad If they can’t see the current problems of flooding a major city with stacked voters in order to control the entire state and you live in MN you would be pretty clueless to the overall outcome they currently are dealing with the rest is just smoke and mirrors.

Any ideas on why these sanctuary areas are legal?

Any ideas on why these sanctuary areas are legal? They are not nothing is being done about it any sanctions against the states will be blocked by the courts that’s about guaranteed so there’s no consequences for illegal behaviors so no changes will come about until “the children can be spanked again.”

No, majority opinion does not rule. The majority can't just ignore something they don't like. If they can legally change it through the proper channels then that's another thing.

Sanctuary cities mean the city will not enforce immigration laws or cooperate with the federal govt on immigration.
Courts have ruled that immigration falls fully under the federal govt and the federal govt is fully responsible for enforcement or lack of. This is the answer. It's the feds job to enforce immigration, not the job of local police departments or the states. These places just choose not to provide assistance to the feds.

Save for one key problem. None of those cities or states exist in isolation. They are in a federated republic union with other States and the majority of those States overwhelmingly disapprove of it. In some way isn't that how politics is supposed to work? Majority rules? BTW, federated republic is not majority rule democracy and never has been by strict definition.

I'm just relaying the argument as to why sanctuary cities are legal. Doesn't mean I like the fact the cities exist.

This is the Nebraska path of office. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/02/full-52051-284032-screenshot_2026_02_01_12_47_19_955.jpg) Or this one. I guess it depends on whether the governor is an executive officer

No that's socialism. As a US citizen you should how our nation was designed to function. Had a brain fart. Meant to say that's democracy and we are not a democracy and the founders warned us against it.

However you slice it, the majority of people who live in sanctuary states or cities overwhelmingly approve of it. In some way isn't that how politics is supposed to work? Majority rules? On the flip side, beaverpeeler, Arizona tried to authorize local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration law, and the Supreme Court ruled against Arizona in 2012 that they can't do that. So, beaverpeeler, in the interest of being intellectually honest, should Arizona have been able to enforce those laws because that's what the majority in that state wanted? The situation we have right now is that the Supreme Court has ruled that this is the purview of the federal government.
