Probably the same..it all depends on what flours are used.

All kinds of flavor profiles

Sourdough is simple

Flour ...water ..salt... thats it

I read that some store bought sour dough bread is plane bread with chemicals added to make it taste like sour dough. How much of it I do not have a clue. I don't buy it so it did not matter to me.

It's not "real" sourdough if there's yeast in the ingredients, usually other stuff too...The bread itself is usually pretty good but it's not a true sourdough.

Daughter been hinting around about sourdough so we looked into it. Pain in the butt, gotta make the starter let sit for awhile yada yada. We wanted to bake that night so we just made regular bread with yeast. Here’s what we found out- it holds butter and jelly and honey as well as anything else.

I like my wifes sourdough better than run of the mill store-bought. Some restaurants have good stuff though. Our farmers market has a couple vendors who sell sourdough that is great.

The wife has her's dialed in the way we like it. Sourdough taste, chewy, not ALL bubble holes, crusty crust.

Most store bought sourdough isn't actual sourdough at all. Just a different blend of white bread.

So many think it takes so much work to make a loaf of sourdough and it doesn't. I have about 1/2 hour with hands on total from start to finish to have a loaf of SD bread. The time it sits and proofs doesn't cost me time or energy.

The reason I make my own is because I know 100% what is in it and I get the satisfaction of great homemade product.
