had a fish when I was a kid , warden smashed it up so it was under the size limit when measured properly it was over.

no ticket he kept the fish.

I am guessing this was a common problem because a few years later the regs had the instructions for properly measuring a fish , and it was NOT how he measured it.

the few interactions I have had with WI DNR as an adult were all fine.

3or 4 in NY untagged trap after 3or4 beaver in it , too close to the water, and a couple other that I don't remember. When ny went to the dumb trigger rule for beaver traps we modified ours with another bar, had the bilologist checking my traps the next year they wrote a regulation just for us----went to foot traps after that ! Always something I was proud of!

You have to wear orange to check your traps?

No, but pretty humorous story (not true). I've heard it more than once but will type it up for someone that hasn't...
Game warden got wind of a guy that was going out on a wooded lake and harvesting fish with dynamite. Warden couldn't catch him so he dressed plain clothes and hung out at the boat ramp. Poacher comes in and the game warden admires all the fish he has and says he can't catch a fish to save his life. Poacher tells him to meet him at the ramp the next morning and he will take him out. Next day they meet at the ramp and go back in a secluded cove. Poacher gets out a stick of dynamite, lights it, drops it in the water, explosion, and fish start rising to the surface. Game warden says, " I am a Game Warden and you are getting a ticket for fishing illegally." Poacher lights another stick of dynamite, hands it to the game warden, and says, "Are you gonna start fishing or not?"

You mean, you didn’t know there were so many crappy possum cops around.

Not a ticket but a big ol fiasco. One county over mom and dad were in the woods deer hunting once. Parked the truck in the ditch along side the road and the woods was right there. They walked out at lunch time and there was a game warden vehicle sitting behind the truck. They walked up and laying in the road between the two vehicles was a dead game warden. One of them started to revive him and the other one ran to the next house to call the squad. The cops got there. They impounded everything and cuffed and stuffed mom and dad. The guy had blood coming out of the corner of his eye so everyone thought he had got conked over the head or something. Turns out he fell over dead from a brain aneurysm. They gave us all our stuff, including the truck, out of impound a few days later.

Here In WI, we have a game warden school and I'm one of the instructors.
I've lived right next door too 2 chief wardens. It was early June and I was involved in our strawberry farm. When my neighbor the chief warden and his wife showed up. We made some small talk and he asked me if I had been hunting In Wyoming and I said I had. He said you can legally snare in Wyoming. I got the message loud and clear. LOL

At that time, I could walk out my back door and be in some of the best fox country around along with a 200-acre marsh I had permission to trap.

… never got a ticket … but had the warden come to my work a couple times to tell me to do better when I was younger lol

Nope our GW’s don’t even know what a trap is imo or they see my plates and run all my licenses and drive on

No trapping violations, but got a warning during the dove opener a few years ago. I had accidentally grabbed a mixed box of shells that had 4 lead rounds in it and loaded it in my bag with the steel shot. Sure enough, I had one of those lead rounds in my gun when the warden checked. I explained what happened, and he checked the rest of my ammo and it was all steel. He must of believed me because he just gave me a warning and moved on. I was prepared to get a ticket because even though it was unintentional, I had broken the law. I haven't made that mistake again.

Twice coulda on stupid stuff and gamies let slide.

I never allowed myself to be pulled over on a 3 wheeler.

On county roads you have register them and get an off road permit in Indiana.

… I remember one night back in the early 2000’s we were running full throttle to the gas station down a farm to market for more beer …. Had our last couple in our hands when a deputy lit us up …. My buddy threw his immediately lol … I pulled the wheeler over and the deputy made my buddy go back and pick up his beer … gave him a stern talking to for alcohol abuse once he determined we weren’t the ones doing donuts in the “ascending dove “ Pentecostal church’s gravel parking lot lol


… now it’s a police state anymore with all the wetbacks running into everbody … drunk … no insurance
