Watched it. History being made. Used to play hockey as a teenager for a city recreational team. We even got our team in the paper once. I wasn't a very good player but all my buddies were on the team. Still have that Pic from the newspaper somewhere, from around 1960. USA!!!

Both teams great. Amazing how close it is now. When I was a kid in Northern New York we played a lot of hockey but at a national level USA wasn't in the conversation. That of course changed in 1980.

Yes. That US goalie is solely responsible for that win. Amazing job. US was getting their butt kicked from 2nd period fwd (when I started watching). Constant pressure by the Canadians.

I remember when we lost when Quick gave up an easy goal to Crosby. It is what it is. Goaltenders win and lose games just like kickers in football. A win is a win and we got gold. USA, USA!!!!

As stated above our USA goalie really stepped up for this game. Two unbelievable saves plus taking on way more shots then the Canadian goalie.
Watched the first quarter and half. My recording attempt for the last half did not work! Don't know how J. Hughs lost his teeth but it did not stop him from playing well.

The game winning goal was a mirror of the Canadian goal. That three on three is all about the fast break opportunity. We found it first. Fabulous Canadian team.

Them Canucks looked bigger and older at the medal ceremony than the US boys

We passed too much in the offensive zone in my opinion. We should have been shooting more and crashing the net.

What a game! I was surprised that the refs weren’t tossing guys into the box for dumb reasons. They actually let them play a bit of North American style hockey. Losing Crosby is nothing, the friggin 4th liners are all stars on these teams.
Best part right here……lol. Gotta give it to Larkin for playing after that hit.
