I just shoveled a path to the chicken coop through 20" of snow, at 25*. I won't be thinking of the garden for another 6 weeks.

I just the other day cleaned off the two shelves in basement. They are set up with grow lights and heating mats. The wife been buying some seeds and probably be starting few things here shortly. Nothing other than seed usually goes outside here until around mother's day.

Next month maybe, still snow in the forecast.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

I have black walnut, heartnut, butternut, hazelnut, common milkweed, American bittersweet, peach, apricot, Montmorency cherry and dogbane seeds striating.

I'm going to put 2 pallets down, with an 8' by 4' by 2" think piece of foam insulation on top, with heat mats on top of that, with two IBC totes, with holes drilled for drainage and filled with sand. I'm going to put apple, pear, Montmorency cherry, mulberry, American bittersweet, button bush, prickly ash and hazelnut seedlings in those to root. A few thousand cuttings total.

I have some elderberry cuttings planted and will do more of those and grape.

Keith

I've noticed over the years , that trans plants from home started or bought, go through a shock period after planting.
Don't know why, but I always find volunteers growing in my garden. And I transplant some of them.
The volunteers produce, say, tomatoes, just about two weeks later, seem to grow faster and produce as much if not more than the other plants.
I used to do a hot box to start my plants outside.

Most plants are better started right in the garden.
