go to Mexico for any reason. all you are doing is supporting the cartels, they run the entirety of Mexico. The woman in the big office, the only reason she is there is because she bent a knee to them and was the only breathing human left alive. I have no problem praying for anyones family member that went down there and is currently trapped.

Take the tourist crap out of the equation. Visit friends, enjoy a very laid back culture, freaking awesome food, beautiful scenery, and remarkable fishing. Unlike the Gulf of America, you don't need to travel nearly as far in the Gulf of Mexico to get to deeper water. Same goes for ocean side. Quicker access to deep water. Fishing out of Puerto Ángel blows away what we have up here.

So before stating a such a blanketed narrow minded view, take the blinders off and see what is really there. Are there horrible areas??? Most definitely! Many that I would compare to Chicago, LA, New York, St. Louis, Memphis..... But like here, there are some magnificent areas to enjoy.

People go to Mexico because it's cheap, close, somewhat exotic and pretty. Many people stay at resorts, or in resort areas that are protected by high walls with broken glass and barb wire on top. There is heavily armed security.

I have no desire to go to Mexico.

Vey rare!!!! Falls into the comparison to here in the states. Stay away from the few high crime areas like Memphis, Chicago, st Louis Tiajana, Nogales, and other major border cities. Cartel does not want to mess with any Americans in the interior of the country. After this hit a couple days ago, I would be cautious. But up until the day before the cartel was more inclined to protect you. They want to sell large quantities of drugs, not have petty headaches

I heard it is hard to beat Mexican tequila and Mexican chiquitas., but you better keep your hand on your wallet if you indulge.

Big difference between missing persons (many of which are runaways and do t want to be found among other things...) and kidnapping for ranson. Please try to find the number of foreign nationals that are kidnapped in the US and held for ransom....

Im not trying to bust your chops for vacationing in Mexico. Heck, if thats what you want to do and feel safe, more power to you. I wish I had visited down there before things started getting sketchy. Unfortunately, I didnt...and now I agree with others. Its one of the last places I would choose to go.

about 110,000 are probably missing because they are working illegally here.

We can pull numbers all day and play the games. Up until El Mencho was killed, being anywhere in the interior is incredibly safe. The vast amount of crimes to US citizens happen around the tourist traps and border cities. As I mentioned earlier, avoid them and no issues. Yes, I would be very concerned going today. But when the dust settles, it will resume to be a safe place. Kind of like going to New Orleans. Hang out in the right places, its a fun city. Go to the wrong neighborhood and you have a strong possibility of not leaving

Yep Mexico is terrible! lol been in the Mayan for the last week. Pretty safe if you’re in a resort…. But when you push the limits FAFO. Like any other place when you’re in the wrong area. When I left home and got here it was a 68 degree temperature change. Kind of breaks up our long winters.

Have a friend that is in PV. Had one day of car fires and everything burning. Next day he was back to normal and his flight is leaving tomorrow. I’ll see how his trip to the airport goes from his resort. He has been there since last Friday.

Better places to go to.

In Mexico they have found 50+ people dead on the roadside from Cartel activity. I believe they were also beheaded. Tell me that the US is that dangerous!
