I don't have a lot of silver, maybe 15 or 16 oz. But when it got over $100 I thought about selling but wasn't in a hurry. Then it dropped and I wasn't worried, I thought it would come right back but it so far has not. Then today it has dropped over 18% again.

Looking back I feel stupid, geeedy pick your own adjectives. I probably should have sold it and saved the money to buy it back when it fell. Live and learn... or live to make the same mistakes again.

I don't remember what year I was buying probably 6 or 7 years ago. Average in the mid to high 20"s .

My original plan at that price was to buy a oz or so a month and build it up. But then the price dropped to the high teens and I realized that I didn't know much about the metals market and stopped buying.

Mistakes may have been made.

Easy to make money looking back . But yeah I would have sold it several months ago. My buying point on this break is at $75

I have a friend who was going to sell 100 bit coin when it hit $150,000. Of course, when it reached its peak several months ago at around 126,000, it fell right at 50%. On paper, he has lost about $6 million over the last few months. But he bought at $25.

Let's assume 16 Oz at $25 a ounce in 2019 so $400 invested

Same $400 put into S&P 500 and forgotten would be $1,180. You wouldn't have to do any research, any guessing on when to sell, you'd probably have been more likely to have kept investing.

Physical metals make 0 sense to me.

When the buyers were stopping buying seemed like a clue. Sold at peak.

One golden rule in markets is never try to Time the Market. You will always leave money on the table or take what money is on the table. Be happy with the gain then wait for drop and buy back in. If you have gains you won the game.

When investing in anything you have to have a plan for when to sell, otherwise you will just watch your investment climb.....then you'll just stand around and watch it fall.

Ding, ding, ding... you have described the situation that I have created perfectly. Now stand by as I likely keep watching it fall while lamenting what could have been. I mean if I could find someone who would buy at the current price in a falling market, I would still over triple my money in a 6 or 7 year investment. That's still great performance. But I'm not sure that I won't just keep it and see what it does in another 10 years.

Your not wrong donner. This was just fun money that I was using to play in the metals market to figure it out a little. Not a lot truly at stake.

Most of my investing is in my IRAs invested in various mutual funds. Plus I have a robinhood account that I play with with "fun money". It makes more sense to me than the metal markets.

I wish I would have bought way more years ago. Same for gold. But that's the way it goes.

Maybe when it drops way more.

You'll still make money if you sell today.
