Public land way out in the woods I found a toy grabber thing laying next to a plastic coffee can under a bush. As much as I was curious, I left it alone. One never knows what could happen. You guys ever find weird things in the woods?

Found in the woods in northern NY... A deflated balloon sent up by a grade school class from Indiana for a science project. The note on it asked to let them know the date and location where it was found

I was driving on a back country road in the middle of nowhere last week and a red heart shaped balloon floated across the road in front of me and out across the field. I thought, well... not everyday you see that.

I do a lot of shed hunting in big timber not real close to human habitation. I once found a doll's head a couple miles from the nearest road and even further from this nearest human settlement.

birds will actually move stuff if it is small. like doll heads.

my son went out dove hunting opening day at the farm and he forgot one of his Decoys in a tree , I found it Saturday about 400 yards south of where he had left it in a fence row, with a hole picked in the side of the decoy

that bird must have been peved when it realized it was fake food.

Ah I know you joking, but I don't get it. I was deer hunting, but I bet you already knew that or something of the sort.

Lots of marijuana grow cages. A weather balloon and a drone. In Utah, many years ago, I found an old #5 Newhouse double longspring while elk hunting. The chain had tree roots grown around it.

I found 2 of these on my farm 2 years apart. One was a science class the other a 9th b day boy.

Had plans on sending it back to them and explain how it was found inside my and what killed one of my goats And threaten legal action.. I figured it would get the word out this practice is a bad idea. But I think they eventually got thrown away.

No it didnt kill a goat I found one low in a tree the other in a pasture.

I've found a couple marital aids. I presume 160user forgot them out there.
Found a pile of power tools once. All the cords were cut, so I figured they were dug out of a stores dumpster.
Found a neighbor girls diary in an ammo can back on the state ground.
Maybe the funniest one was my own handkerchief. I had used it the previous fall when I developed an emergency case of bubble gut. Someone found it and tied it to a limb.

1993. Bow hunting in Colorado.. the most desolate place I have ever been.. 75 miles to the nearest pay phone.. the area we were hunting showed zero sign of human activity.. no beer cans no cigarette butts no tire tracks.. no old campsites.. nothing.. was walking through a big stand if evergreens.. found a real nice 25’ true value tape measure.. brought it home and used it daily for probably 10 years

I found a stash several years ago, buried in a 10 gallon bucket. Only part of the lid was exposed. By the date on some of the items, which expired in the mid 80’s, it had been stashed for about 30 years. Among the items were Strike Anywhere matches and a full box of Russian AK47 ammo.

Found a cell phone that was still working. Got a phone number from a text on it and got it back to the owner. He had lost it 2 days before I found it.

I was elk hunting in Idaho one year and miles down a Forest Service Road. Found a bicycle that someone had chained to a tree, and then the tree fell on it. Of all the trees in the forest to park your bike, and then can’t retrieve it after a hard day’s hunt.

I've got one that will beat anything found in a woods so far . . . IF I can still find where I put it, and IF Paul will allow it to be posted. It's the real deal! :-)

Set up a tree stand a few years back and about 40 yds down the ridge found another tree stand. It had been there so long that the strap had grown into the tree and had cause a wound on the tree that ran down the trunk about 8 ft.

Found a $10 bill while turkey hunting, just laying in the path.
Found a dead man, face blown off and a bullet hole just behind his right ear.
Law said it was a hair trigger, and he went under a limb that hit the trigger.
Ever carry a rifle on a sling over your shoulder, and the barrel end was behind your ear?
A lot of strange unexplained deaths in our county over the years .

A golf ball twice, different places, a long ways from any golf course. Walking up a gated road I picked up several rounds of 300 ultra mag ammo spaced 50 to 100 feet apart. Several coats and shirts over the years.

Kinda weird a guess, found a dead head few years back. Turned out to be a deer a famous pop country singer shot with a local outfitter and never could find it.

Found a large garbage bag of dried weed way back in on an old bush trail when hunting in september one year.
Took me and a buddy several months to smoke it all.

I found pot growing inside chicken wire cages a couple times. Not me, but a downstate fellow was trout fishing back in a local remote swamp a few years back and he ran into a commercial sized grow operation.....had camo netting strung over it, and a well equipped tent camp with enough supplies to have been set up by several men. They had an elaborate kitchen tent that had strings of dried chili peppers hanging up. It was believed to be a cartel operation. The police used helicopters to go in and take care of stuff. Considering this ain't Humboldt County, California I was always surprised at the amount of weed grown back in the day. Had an old buddy that was on a multi-agency drug task force team that would fly in choppers several times a summer/fall to search for pot growing in corn fields, woods, etc. I asked him how often they found it and he said literally every flight they made found some.

I found a skeleton of a deer in a crotch of a tree. I figured the deer jumped over this log and landed in the tree.

Many years ago, my buddy and I were squirrel hunting in the Allegan State Forest. We came upon a cardboard box that had a litter of dead puppies in it.
Really sad, don't know how people can do that.

Those who've mentioned finding the deceased ...the public areas just North of Lawton, OK.,( The. Shady 580) I like to hunt and fish, I anticipate coming across a body. Every time. Between the criminal activity and prevalent drug use, I'm surprised I haven't by now.

How about finding this homemade boat 1/2 mile from the nearest road and about 100 yds from the creek on the high-bank. Looked like two old car hoods welded together, even appeared to have a transom for an outboard?? Go figure!

I run pointing dogs for Grouse and Woodcock. One spring day I was out hoping to find a few woodcock during there spring migration. We were almost back to the road when my dog went on point, but he was acting real different. He would point then take a few steps then back up. He did that several times before I got to him. That's when I saw it . There was a child's blanket wrapped around a body and stuffed into a brush pile. I collared my dog and stood there for a long minute before heading for the truck and drive to a spot for cell service. I walked about 50 yds down the road towards my truck before stopping. I stood there for a bit before I headed back ( I had to know). Finally I took my pocket knife and cut a slit in the blanket. The thick black hair was from someones Black lab. I still after 20 years think about it when I head to the woods.

I was walking along an old swamp and could see a large white bump out on the ice. I walked over and could see where this white Lab had fallen through the ice, managed to get back out and then froze to the ice. That pretty much ruined my morning.

I found remnants of methods lab once. Plastic hotels with hose coming out of them with residue inside the bottles and an old cooler. I saw it recognized what it was after being on jury duty on a meth case. Backed away a back to my truck and went hunting in a different location.

Didn't want to run into any paranoid meth cookers that may be in that area. Infact that was 15 year ago or longer and I have not hunted there since.

At a very old logging camp location I found a file in great shape. I sent it to a past member here who builds things in the old ways. I wondered at the guy who stood over saw blades all day long using it to sharpen the next days whip saws.

A shot behind the ear was mentioned. I recall a longtime ago walking behind a friend, heading into the timber for an afternoon deer hunt. He stepped over a tree in front of me, rifle slung over his shoulder, when the brush caught his rifle shoulder stock and drug it back so the barrel end hit him in the back of the head.
It didn’t go off and didn’t hit him hard but sure showed me a fast lesson.

I could go on for hours on what my brother and I found as kids while trapping. I found 3 shotguns in the Hackensack river. They were muddy, but cleaned up and worked fine. Found plenty of party areas in the woods. we would take the unopen bottles. Lots of sex toys and clothes. Found a dead body in the patch of woods in Teaneck on the way to school. the snow plow had pushed him up and into the wood area. Apparently someone dumped him off along the highway. Found a blood trail in the woods next to my Jr HS, found out a lady was raped and the guy cut her throat. She made it to a hose at the edge of the swamp, but did not survive. Found jewelry and money form people being robbed and the person tossing what they didn't want into the woods. Homeless camps, in the swamps, as well as items tossed out of cars. Once found about 30 nickel bags or pot under a bridge. I am guessing they were getting pulled over and tossed everything out of the window of the car.

I agree, my wife freaks out when I tell her stories. Especially the fighting, not sure why, but people wanted to fight us kids because we were trapping. My son loves the stories.

About 5 or 6 years ago Muskrat and I were deer hunting in the river bottoms (WI River) and we came across a "sex toy" about half exposed in a pile of debris commonly left as floodwaters recede. Maybe it has moved along downriver to you fellows in Iowa, Illinois or ? laugh

In woods between Wilmington and Hockessin DE. I came across a satin 4x4 sheet w satanic symbols and an iron pot filled with dried rooster heads and a small sword stuck smack in the middle. It was a gloomy foggy day, really creeped me out. Some sickos out there.
