This one was vocal, took roughly 40 minutes to finally come in.

I think I prefer shotgunning coyotes though

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

I wish a lot more folks didn’t like it lol.
I totally get it though. Some types of hunting turn folks on more than others. Just depends on what trips your trigger.
If I never kill another deer I could care less. Has never excited me. Spring turkey, ducks, squirrels, and beagling rabbits is what does it for me when it comes to hunting. Not necessarily in that order lol.
I LIKE to fish. I LOVE to hunt.

I’m impressed that you learned to call the weekend before the hunt and your first bird came straight in.

Congrats.

The last 5 my boys have shot have all been sneaking within range of them. Their behavior has changed from back when I hunted them myself 15 years ago. Back then Tom's would come in right to the call. Today here calling gets them to gobble and strut but they dont come in and seem to be waiting on the hen to come to them.

Started having a loose theory the ones that ran into the call got shot and taken out of the gene pool and those genetics are not as strong any longer. Could be just they got smart with more people hunting them or more hens available .

A lot like elk hunting. Sometimes it works and sometimes not as good. Persistent is key and time in the field.

I do have to say I have been thinking about taking the kids to hunt them in other states that open earlier since i have been having some ms issues and not working much and missing some on top of that.

I figured when my 15 year old gets his learners permit he can do all the driving and as for the hunts i would not need to get away from the truck on bad days instead set back and wait to hear the shot. And tag along and call on good days.

PF, That’s the way turkeys acted here, then the coyotes showed up and everything changed.
