And wear it when appropriate?

I was the only one to wear a suit and tie to church this morning.

Admittedly we no longer wear suit and tie to the office daily like once was the norm but really for special occasions like Easter, Christmas, Weddings, Funerals why do we not even try?

I no longer have a suit since I have very few times I would wear one. They took up space and like my dress pants and sport coats will end up covered in dust and probably not fit the next time I try to put it on.

Absolutely a man should own at least one suit. Probably more.

Weddings and funerals. When I was testifying in court I had to wear one. Those days are over.

Nice jeans, a nice shirt and boots are fine in my book. I'll throw a sport coat on for Holy Days.

Our Easter Vigil was almost 4 hours long. A lot of it kneeling. That's a long time in a suit and tie.

But yes, there are times to wear a suit.

I own a suit. I believe they are worn on special events as a sign of respect. Church, graduations, weddings, etc. It is western culture's sign of respect in the middle class, not a Biblical requirement. The rich folk wear them as a matter of course, part of their culture, and they usually have many of the latest fashion. Poor folk historically have not been able to afford them. Because of a loss of culture due to immigration, changes in the fashion world, getting old and crotchety, immortality, etcetera, suits seem to be going out of style. I've only ever bought two suits new: a black Walmart special to get married in, and a men's warehouse dark gray one to officiate at my brother's funeral in. All the rest were at thrift stores. I usually own just one, never more than two.

I own a suit...the one I got married in 44 years ago. Have not worn it since. I also have a bunch of ties hanging in my closet. Have not worn one of those in around 25 years or so.

At my age I don't think I am going to change, either.

I do have 1 suit, bought it over 40 years ago for my wife's grandmas funeral, barely ever wore it again, maybe 2,3 times. I think it fits, lol.

I believe that every man should have one.
Only problem I've had is loosing weight and the previous suit being too big. I occasionally officiate weddings, so it's gotten rather expensive for me to keep buying a new one. Fortunately plenty of folks want me to dress in my bib overalls and a tie.
Hopefully I'll eventually get down to a regular weight and not have to buy any more.

Now I just wear the dress shirt, dress pants and shoes.
NO MORE SPORTS COAT

Times change, I don't own a leisure suit anymore either
Or a tuxedo

We should all go back to top hats made out of beaver!

As for dress shoes.....I needed a pair when I got married, but didn't have much money...checked the local shoe repair guy and he had a really good pair of leather dress shoes that he put new heels on, but the owner never picked them up....so 5 bucks later I had dress shoes...except they were a size too small....but for 5 bucks I figured I can get a few hours in, lol

Still have the wife but gave the shoes to my brother, for the same reason...knowing him he still has them, they actually fit him.... grin
