Thanks, Todd

It’s going to be a great one, folks!

Don’t delay to get motel rooms, I know the attendance is going to be up this year, and the rooms will be in demand

4 months will fly by!

Dang it! Had I known earlier I would’ve changed my plan a bit. First I’m heading to Albertas, then hitting Minnesotas the weekend before the Wolfer Summit in Idaho. I’d have to book over a month off!…..lol. Plus all my vacation will depend on how bad fire season will be.

Looks like a good line up this year. Has Craig O’gorman ever been asked to do a demo or speak at this event? Seems that would be appropriate with all his contributions to Coyote trapping/ ADC work.

Craig rarely does conventions. He was at one in Nebraska last year, or at least that was his plan.

Looking forward to it John. We plan to stay for the dinner this year.

It's a great time folks, lots to learn and folks to get to know.
Good time to buy some trapping supplies too.

There are actually a couple of lakes pretty near to Lusk with great walleye fishing if anyone drags a boat over.

Great to hear Pam, looking forward to seeing you guys.

Yes, Glendo Reservoir is about an hour away from Lusk, and is a popular walleye lake

With the ‘cat market the way it is, and the demo lineup and the group of trappers that gather at this event, Coyote Days is without a doubt THE place to be to learn and be prepared for next season !

All the bases of Coyote and ‘Cat harvesting are covered from A-Z

We’ll have 2 carcass bobcats skinned, fleshed, and stretched from start to finish, one each day.

The Friday night roundtable will be a great one again, as all of the demo presenters are invited to participate. This alone is worth the drive to Wyoming

August 14-15, Lusk WY

If zagger tries to give me a hug it's going to be game on.

Gotta practice evading the long arm marine as well

Tracy it will be good to meet up again. Are you bringing Mrs. Truman again?

She probably will. She actually had a great time last year. Everyone was so nice to her . . . and she loves walleye. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Hey, that’s great Shannon!

Anyone that wants to bring their fur garment or accessories are sure welcome to bring them and wear them in the fur fashion show at the Saturday night banquet!

We have a new blue mink jacket, a red fox shawl, and a jet black full length mink coat to add to the lineup this year too

Ok, I’ve already had a few people ask for the exact list of demo times, and we’re still months away …

I simply haven’t taken the time to sit down and put everything in order, but I will soon. I can honestly say there is no ‘best day’.

I do know that if you are planning on attending, you owe it to yourself to come for both days, as they will be packed with great demos, and you’ll want to take in as many as possible !

With some of the very best ‘cat trappers in the country coming to Coyotes Days, once again, it is only good business for anyone interested in ‘cats to come and listen and learn.

I can tell you for a fact that there were several trappers that doubled and even tripled their ‘cat catches last year, after attending Coyote Days the last few years

There is a lot of planning and consideration that goes in to pulling this event off, so take advantage of it!

Start making plans today

Have a great day

John

If anyone is considering going I'd recommend making hotel reservations early

I know of a dozen guys from MN whole said they are coming. With the cat market, marten and skunk market the way it is I expect turnout to be big. I see the possibility of the coyote market increasing on the June sale as well. That happens and it could be the biggest coyote days to date

It will be good to see you and Angie again Shannon. If you aren't busy I'll give you a job at the Friday night feast lol.

See you guys at Camp Cattrax.

Steven is right, don’t put off getting a motel room reserved if you need one!

We’ve had a LOT of people already tell us they had friends that were first time attendees coming

The demo line up is getting people excited, and we’re getting inquired daily

It’ll be here before we know it

I just heard from a buddy of mine in Wyoming that Otis Latham (ColoradoCat) is making a ‘medium sized ‘cat stretcher now too, and he’d already called Otis and ordered some, along with the small and large ‘cat stretchers as well

Monte Poole from Kansas is bringing some of his slide drivers also, and I can personally give them my endorsement, after pounding in over 500 Wolf Fangs with them since last August after I’d bought one from him at Coyote Days. I have 3 now, including a 68” model that I use standing up. Total game changer! I ordered another one, and not because I’m worried about breaking one, but because I use pickups and a side by side and a 4 wheeler to trap out of throughout the year, and spares are just good business

I’ll see if he wants me to post his number, but until then, I’ll send it via PM if amyone is interested

I haven’t checked lately, but I was told that at least 2 of the motels are full, and rooms are going fast. Just a reminder to get a room NOW, as we’re 3 months away and things are happening very fast since the demo list was posted a while back

All conventions are a great deal, and I’ve attended about 180 of them over the years

But, I know for a fact that there is NO where else that there is a concentration and assembly of some of the most successful and knowledgeable trappers, period

There will be attendees that show up to visit and learn and share that are world class also, and it is truly history making every year

Plan to be a part of it

Coyote Days, Aug 14-15 2026

Lusk, WY

Thanks, John

Ok folks, we’re only a little over 2 months away from Coyote Days 2026!

Things are coming together nicely, and we’ve got things coming in every week for raffle items, door prizes, and promotional items

We have a few more garments for the fur fashion show at the Saturday night banquet, and this year’s will be a great one again

The demo list is solid, and we will cover every phase of Coyote & Bobcat harvesting and also a Marten demo!

Again, there’s unlimited primitive camping on the fairgrounds, with a shower and bathrooms close by, but the NO FIRES ban is county wide again this year

Coyote Days is a family friendly event, and we encourage folks to bring their kids
Lusk has a very nice public pool, and I know some people use it every year when they come

For new attendees, try to visit the Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron, Nebraska, which is about an hour and a half east. It’s truly a great place to visit.

Fort Robinson at Crawford Nebraska is a must see too

Fort Laramie is about 50 minutes SW of Lusk, and is good stop too

I’ve been asked about fishing again, and all I can report is that there isn’t any fishing close by to Lusk, and Glendo Reservoir being the closest

There is plenty of fishing coming and going though

The main focus of Coyote Days is the world class DEMOS, and the chance to visit with lots of like minded people from all over the country, and many don’t attend any other event on a yearly basis.

With the ‘Cat fur market and the predator control industry always expanding, there is NO where else a person can go to keep up on things.

If your serious about taking advantage of the current markets, plan on attending this great event, you won’t be sorry

Ok folks, we are only two months away now!

We set up the building on the afternoon of Thursday the 13th, and the door is officially open at 6 AM Friday the 14th

A few things that come to mind:

We will have more pop-up shade canopies this year, so if you want to bring your own camping or folding chairs, go ahead

We have 11 portable aluminum bleachers to use too, but I’ve noticed sometimes they are maxed out at the demos so additional seating will be available too

Also, there is a strict no fire ban countywide due to the severe drought, so please do not plan on having any kind of open fire in the camping area of the Fairgrounds

Grills are welcome, of course

There will be food at the concessions from 6 AM till about 4:30 or 5 in the afternoon Friday and Saturday

There are several restaurants in Lusk, but only one or two that will be open for breakfast

The tiger plunge swimming pool is open now and has 12 lifeguards, so if you’re family wants to swim if it’s hot, that is a big plus

We are getting inquiries from literally every corner of the country, and I know we are going to have a huge turnout

The bobcat market being what it is, it is the driving force, but the coyote demos are second to none and if you are interested in doing ADC work to supplementing income or to protect your deer herd, this is the place to come and learn

It’s hard to predict the weather, and the gas prices this far in advance, but I know you will find the thr event to be well worth it

Admission is $20 for the weekend, and for 17 and under it is free

We are going to do everything we can to get you prepared for the coming season

August 14 and 15th 2026, all tracks lead to Coyote Days in Lusk, Wyoming !

Thanks, John

Coyote Days has truly become the holy grail of the West . If you have never been, ever thought about going, I would make this year the year. The caliber of men doing demos, are the best of the best. And they are very open to giving information. It's truly the highlight of the year. No politics,no drama, just hard-core information!

The Saturday night banquet alone is worth the trip.

I have a feeling a jug of maple syrup is going to be real expensive this year

Thanks guys!

It’s always great to get to see both of you.

Steven, I hope you are having time to go fishing this summer. I’m looking forward to your Marten demo, and I can’t wait to eat some fish!

Otis, I hope you are bringing lots of stretchers, I know people will be pre/ordering right up until the day you head this way, but bring extra. Your basswood stretchers are the most popular available, bar none. The big majority of the ‘cats I buy every year are put up on your boards !

I can’t remember when you started building them and bringing them to conventions, 2003 or so?

I think it was around 2006 when I asked Sir William Ilchik if I could market them. I think Bill was happy that his design helped a bunch of guys over the years. Him and Joel should be proud that the Nevada stretch is now the industry standard. I have no idea how many I've made in 20 years, several thousand. Maybe 10k to 12k.

I am hoping to go to Coyote Days this year. Retired from full time employment so I can take some time to do what I want. Those coming from the east to Lusk be sure to hit the Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron ( www.furtrade.org ).... about 80 miles east of Lusk. Also Fort Robinson ( www.outdoornebraska.gov/location/fort-robinson/ by Crawford Nebr) is a Nebraska destination most will agree is a great place to visit. Beautiful country out that way !! Are there any local vendors ever at Coyote Days... or even set up in or around Lusk during coyote Days ???

Steven, thanks to you and your crew for putting together the Camp Cattrax Fish Fry.
I’ll be there!

Yes, time is flying by, and it’s almost the 4th of July already, crazy

Yes, there’s lots to see, as mentioned, over in the Panhandle of Nebraska, to the east of Lusk.

About 30,000 acres burned around Fort Robinson a few weeks ago, and it burned right down to the Fort buildings at some points from what I hear, but I don’t believe any of the buildings were lost, but I could be wrong

Very worth the visit though

Also, to the South about an hour away, is Fort Laramie, which has a lot of history and is another spot worth driving to.

As for vendors, yes, there’ll be vendors in snout 2/3 the main building.

Otis Latham will have a line of his top quality basswood stretchers, which are the very top of the line, and he also brings some other items he creates too

I’m sure Tracy Truman will have his books and Wyldwings and other items

Tuffy Halls has a line of supplies he brings, including traps

Mark Charpentier is bringing some supplies

Travis Chilson wil be selling his Lure & Baits

Brent Kindervater will have some antique traps

Kyle Krebs will have some very nice products made of fur

Monte Poole is bringing his quality products, including his slide drivers, and other items

We’ll have Fur Country Lures, Snares, general supplies

And, Keith Gregerson will be bringing a lot of his unique items including snares and a bunch of things you can’t find anywhere else down from Roundup MT again this year!

We try to reserve about 1/3 of the space in the building for tables to sit at and eat and visit, and get out if the heat for awhile,

Coyote Day’s is geared around the 10 non-stop hourly demos each day, and the Friday night round table that is the best chance to have your questions answered and discussed in an open air forum type format, EVER

20 demos in 2 days - by some of the very best trappers in U.S.

$20 for the weekend, 17 and over

Saturday night Banquet featuring grilled steaks, raffles, Fur Fashion Show, and auction
Tickets $25

The doors open at 6 a.m. both days, and close at 6 P.M.

Friday-Saturday August 14th &15th 2026

Lusk, WY

Coyote Days 2026 is gearing up to be another great one!

grin I have enough beaver nickels now to last quite a while! I have even thought about drilling a tiny hole and attaching one to each of my beaver traps for the fun of it. grin

I made out like a bandit on that deal, $10CAD worth of Canadian nickels for $10USD! I couldn’t sleep right for a few nights but I eventually got over it…..lol.
Was great meeting you & White Marlin. I’ll be in Wyoming/Idaho early August so won’t be making it to Lusk this year. If I had booked my holidays earlier, I could’ve moved the start a week ahead. I had everything all booked by the time I got the dates for Coyote Days.
I’ll run into you fellas again yet.

Yes, Herrick Taxidermy from Douglas will be attending again, with Jackalopes, Fox, Coyote, etc mounts

Their grandpa was the originator of the ‘Jackalope’ that gained fame many years ago.

I purchased a gray fox mount from them last year. Their work is unique.

Thanks for the bump, Mike

Ok, as time gets closer, we’re getting a few more questions from new attendees that I thought I’d address

First, the cost to attend Coyote Days is $20 per person, but 17 and under is FREE, so bringing a family isn’t going to cost YOU a lot to get in

You’ll get a wristband that signifiers that you paid entrance fee and is good for BOTH days

Trust me, the demos are worth $1000’s, and the $20 is put towards us paying for the 101 things it takes to put this event on.

The Saturday Night Banquet is seperate, and it is $25/ticket, and that is for man, women, child, whatever

We buy steak loins, and they are sliced the night before, and we judge it on how many tickets are sold, give or take of course.

We encourage everyone to take in and enjoy the banquet, but it’s not required by any means!

The banquet is held Saturday evening in the main fairgrounds building, which is now air conditioned and has a good sound system.

We’ll have a guest speaker or two, bucket raffle (20 items) and also draw for the other items we sell raffle tickets for at the Coyote Days desk at entrance of the building we use at south end of fairgrounds

ALL the items raffled will be won by Coyote Days attendees, as that is the only place the tickets will be sold

Supper includes grilled steaks, salad, baked potatoes, etc

After supper will be the fur fashion show, with many garments and fur accessories being modeled. And again, if you have a fur garment you or your lady friend would like to bring and wear in the fur show, by all means, bring it!

After that, we’ll have the auction

Like last year, we’ll have 2 groups of items for the auction

One group will be items designated for the Endowment Fund (Scholarship), and the other group will be items to be auctioned with proceeds going towards helping us offset some of the event’s cost (grounds, motel rooms for demo presenters, etc)

We don’t solicit items for the auction, but if you’d like to bring something to donate to the auction, again feel free to to, and it’ll be appreciated. I’d appreciate it if you make us aware of who donated it, so we can give credit, and also designate if for endowment fund or general auction

So, that addresses the questions that we’ve received lately I think.

Coyote Days is based around the 20 top quality demos, 10 per day, and the Friday night roundtable discussion.

Add on the Camp Cattrax fish fry on Friday night, and some great company for the weekend, and I can’t think of a better place to get ready for this fall, or just to catch up with friends and like minded people

Coyote Days 2026

Aug 14-15

Lusk, WY

Thanks, John

I'm not attending g but a friend is going to be there. He's doing g a demo also.

He said he'd take my skunk quill and see if any one wanted it. I also have several gallons of brain frozen. If any one has a use for them might talk Brandy into packing them also. I clean skulls and saved the brains this season hoping they might be useful to some one. No charge on the brains.

Can't believe its almost here. It's quickly become the highlight of my summer, hanging out with the likes of O.D., Boone, Big John Nolan, some sassy bull fighter from S.D. who always pulls my chain, and of course taking advantage of the Graham family's hospitality. I can already taste the walleye from Steven 49er and crew! It really is a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business.
Looking forward to it!!

Ok, one quick update on the Endowment/Scholarship recipients this year

This year, instead of 3, we have 4 worthy recipients

All are children or grandchildren of demo presenters

1 young lady from Wyoming, 1 young lady from Montana, and 2 young men from Montana.

All have been involved in trapping their entire lives, and a very worthy recipients!

I’ll announce names at Coyote Days

Time is flying by, and we are getting a lot of people dropping a line and saying they’ll see us in August!

John, it's hot in northern MN as well. Supposed to hit 100 tomorrow 50 70 percent humidity is going down. Still supposed to be 30 40 percent. Any smoke your way? It's been clear here. The Canadians are behaving

I got a couple items to put on the scholarship auction in honor of tom.

Yep!

I’ll put together the final demo schedule in the next few days, and post it with times and which day the demos are.

We’ve had one demo presenter that had to cancel this year, regrettably, as John Barnum from OR can’t make it this year. John’s great ‘cat demo wil be missed, but we do understand him not being able to make this year.

We’ll miss you John! Next year!

Things are happening, and coming together, we’ve had more people volunteer to help get set up and help run things to make the whole weekend run smooth

I pick up the rifles for the raffles tomorrow, and other items for raffles and auction are coming in daily

We’ll order the steak loins soon, and take care of little things along the way

We’ve had a LOT of inquiries from first time attendees, and it’s looking like this is going to be another great one.

Like Steven says, Aug 14th & 15th, all roads lead to Lusk WY

John. I can think of 8 from MN that are coming coming or at least said they were and reserved rooms that will be first timers.

Camp Cattrax will come alive again. Hopefully this time Otis will stay up past his bend time and come eat and visit.

John will be missed.

Really enjoyed it last year. This year I’m caregiving for my wife and my mom so cannot attend. If anyone is unsure if they should go or not. Go! Tremendous body of knowledge in the presenters. And a great time to network with other trappers.

We weren't sure what to expect the first year we went, now it is a must go.
Everyone is great, demos down to the attendees.
Getting to meet folks I interact with on here was also a big plus.
If you can make it come on out !!

Yeah, Steven describes it best! The invasion.

Coyote Days changes this small town for 4 days

We’ll be setting up Thursday afternoon, a week from today

The event officially kicks off at 7:45 Friday morning with the National Anthem and a brief introduction.

The demo lineup is world class, and I mean that sincerely.

The food will be great, and the concessions will open at 6 a.m. each day

The NY steak loins will be picked up and sliced Friday, for the Saturday night banquet.

The roundtable Friday night will be under the roof of the new pavilion, and the open air atmosphere is nice .

Camp Cattrax has been looked forward to all year, and yes, Tom will be honored well

Coyote Days 2026 is going to be another one for the books folks, don’t miss it

Friday/Saturday. Aug 14-15. LUSK, WY

Have a great day everyone

A pair of Dave McCroskey originals I had made for the auction during Saturday nights banquet

5 more days until the barbarian horde descends upon Wyoming. Judging from the amount of MN people who told me they are coming it will look like a North Dakota duck slough

I've been enquired by several what or if there is anything they can bring to the camp cookout. This years answers is dessert.

All roads leads to camp cattrax

Yep, see everyone soon!

It looks like we’re going to be getting some rain Thursday evening, but that’s ok

We are in bad shape here, and my rancher friends will welcome it, so I have to say in advance, don’t curse the rain!

Jim and I have already talked about it, and we’ve made a plan

We’ll have 2 demo areas set up, and possibly use both, depending on weather

We’ll have the usual demo areas set, south of the building set up with bleachers and also the open air Pavillion set up with a demo spot and lots of tables and chairs too

We WONT bounce back and forth, that takes up too much time, and we run a pretty tight schedule to get all TWEVTY demos in! But, we’ll play it by ear

It will work out just fine

And, Sturgis is going on, and with Eastern Wyoming being on their corridor of traveling from the south, there is a LOT of bikes on the road. Be extra cautious driving, because they do take chances at times

We start setting up the main building to the south on Thursday afternoon, but the doors actually open at 6 a.m. on Friday.

Safe travels everyone, and see you all soon

John

Who’s getting the buckle this year?
Wish I could make it but just got back from Idaho and already had to cancel a quick Sask convention this Saturday. While I was gone, I was “voluntold” that I was working a scheduled power outage this weekend. At least the credit card will like the OT……lol.

I'm putting the final touches on loading the truck. I have a newbie coming along, my young daughter decided I'm cool enough to hang out with me.

I'm going to work an hour this morning and when the morning safety meeting is finished it's off to the races.

Travel safely and be careful there is going to be a ton of motorcycle traffic this weekend

First day in the books and it was a good one! A lot of attendees too! And the best was Camp Cattrax was a blast. I got a belly full Mud Bugs and Walleye, along Phil’s Hot Sauce and Wine.

Shannon all I have to add is I'm tired lol.

The crew knocked it out of the park and I'm not too bashful(brandy may say I'm can be a bit arrogant) to say that the crew from MN represented.

Thanks to all the workers, everyone who brought fish, side dishes, fruits, vegetables, desserts, homemade wine, pickles and the list goes on. The wild rice dish your wife made was awesome as was the blackberry dessert(let's do it again next year Brandy) and the fresh watermelon.

Nicole and John, thanks for putting this overall event on. I can't imagine the amount of work and preparation that goes into the weekend.

Time to rest up for the big banquet tonight. The camp Cattrax crew may get a bit unruly

Another great COYOTE Days, thank you to John and Nicole and all the support people what make the event what it is.

Weather was great, (got to remember to wear long sleeves, should have learned last time), demos were phenomenal, learned some new things to take back home.

Christine and I are taking a day to recoup before heading back home.

Absolutely epic! Huge turnout, fantastic demo's, over 100 folks through the camp Cattrax fish fry. Proud to be a part of the big picture, thanks to everyone that came out! Other than the last-minute downpour weather was perfect. Hope it happens again and we see each other next year!

Coyote days is really an amazing gathering of knowledge. I met some incredible people, asked tons of questions, learned a lot, have tons of new ideas running around in my head and really enjoyed myself. Thanks to all that presented, cooked, organized and for the camp Cattrax crew.

Would sure like to go some year. May never happen as farming keeps me farm-bound this time of year.

Hope you guys that do schedule C's on your trapping income remember that most of the money spent at Coyote Days should be tax deductible.

Todd, correct me of I'm wrong but I think only one has sold below a 1000 and that was the one tom purchased.

You should know, of the 10 you have 6 , right?

On the 825 mile drive home to Wisconsin, I found lots of good set locations using all of my new wisdom!
Now all I need is lots of permission in Wyoming, Nebraska, SoDak, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
After the first hundred miles or so, my bride lost interest in what would be a good location and took a nap.

Thanks to John and the entire crew. Coyote Days has been on my list of things to do for a few years and I was not disappointed. The demos were great and the people even better. The auction proved that a lot of the demo guys give more than just their time and knowledge. I sure wish I could sell my syrup here for what it brought at the auction.
Once again Thanks to all.
JD

Only at coyote days dies a gallon of syrup sell for over 300.

Someone asked me if those front center tables lost their minds running each other up. The answer? Why certainly!

I think a jar of honey went for 400 lol

Actually 2 have sold for under $1000 the third one of mine and the one Tom wanted and I let him have.
Plus the one John gave me, so it wouldn't get out of control. There have only been 8 and yes, I have 4 of them!

At $80/pint it comes out to $640/gallon, so, $325 for a gallon was a bargain. (I always figured that Wisconsin syrup was worth more than Michigan syrup)

Buying his own honey and donating it back to sell for $400 was awesome!

Watching the bidding had me laughing out loud a few times. What a great bunch of people!!!!!

$60/ day, and around 80 cents a mile, plus motel rooms is the gig here…I was gone for 6 nights and ran 2300 miles as some of it is scouting as I deviated from the path just a little. Self employment is a game.

I can’t believe the amount of work and volunteers that went into that. The Cattrax dinner was spectacular! All of it was great, and totally inspiring for a less experienced trapper like myself. Thank you especially to all the Grahams for putting on a great event.
