Anyone here ever get a really good item? Yep, 16' aluminum jet boat on a new trailer, with a brand new Yamaha 40hp jet (60hp prop), for $1750. The other guys looking at it thought the engine was seized because the pull rope would not pull, they didn't notice it was in gear and it's designed to not let you pull it when in gear. The boat had sat a few years and was covered with black mold/algae which is typical if you store something outside in the shade in the PNW. It looked terrible, stopped by a car wash on the way home and cleaned it right up.

Once bought a brass bed. Back in the 70s. I once bought a mattress. I wonder if we were at the same sale.
I have nothing clever to put here.

My buddy just picked up a pre war Colt woodsman match target pistol for $125. He texted me a photo and asked if he should buy it!?!? think I was screaming “yes, but it” while texting back.

I find estate sales to be quite pricey. The prices often start near retail or even eBay asking prices. Estate auctions, however, are the opposite. I've been attending a local estate auction weekly for several years now, and that's where you can find some awesome deals.

Picked up a wooden stool and a library desk from the San Francisco opera house at an estate yrs ago here in Oregon. These items probably migrated up here with the California creep 1930s I believe Had to clean the tooty fruity off .....

Do flea markets count? I was at one a few years ago and a seller had a sack of tracks including a couple of #3 and #4 long springs. I was trying to get a price out of him, thinking $5.00 a trap offer, when my wife says she will give him a $1.00 a trap. He looked at her for a second and said "Ok he didn't want to pack them home". I put them in the truck as fast as I could. I always let her do the dickering no matter what we are buying. When we buy a vehicle I sit in the car until she comes out to tell me if we are leaving or going home with a different vehicle.

Usually estate sales are good to go to, as they sellers want to get rid of things quickly making the prices decent. Moving sales are good too. They usually want to sell as much a they can so they don't have to haul it with them. Last summer at a moving sale I got two wheelbarrows for a buck apiece and a box of spooled assorted fishing line for $3.00.
Got a photo from a speeding camera in the mail. I immediately sent it back - way too expensive and really poor quality.

Auctions around here are high now. In Indiana you can still find rural sales with deals. Some people travel around and buy up stuff over in Indiana, bring it back, and then reauction it off over here. I stood at an equipment sale this winter getting snowed on and figured I'd get a deal on something b/c it was cold and blowing all day. I went home empty handed. The estate auction i hot a good deal on the guns at I was ther for a tractor and or 3 point tiller not the guns. The tiller sold for more than a new one( it did look new but) and the tractor sold for 1700 less than list price on a new one. I think it all depends on who showed up. I have been so busy working the last several years it was hard for me to spend limited time ar a sale and not get deals so had quit going. It may be something I get back into as I cut back and have more time. Would be something to do and not physically demanding. May be a fun hobby to flipping things. Mom was smiling this week feling accomplished having bout some items for $3 at a yard sale snad selling them for $15 each within 30 mins.
