Got a decent amount. Looking at Fifty dollar mink and eight dollar rat averages. Be happy if rats could bump up to that five dollar average range and mink Id still be happy with a thirty dollar average even if March was actually higher than that.

beaverpeeler. I want to buy a piece of land and built a house on the St Lawrence River. You will pay for it right? No, but i'll let you camp in my woods for a month rent free. Hows that? BTW, you do realize western Oregon cats are just slightly better than southern cats right?

Should be interesting to see how many marten they end up with. 50,000 maybe?? And then to see if the price holds?? That would be double what they had last June. Price softened last year from March to June by 5%

For the last 10 years or so I've been donating most of my furs to our MTA Tanned Fur Project. This year I was only able to trap for 3 days, transmission went out on the truck so I only had my 2 marten limit and 1 bobcat.I sent one marten to the June sale 2xl heavy select brn,if the prices hold there's a good chance that might be a $300 marten, the bobcat was a 46" 2,3 or b belly, that avg cat might have brought $350 to $550 by the looks of the last sale maybe even higher, but I donated the cat and a XL light Brn marten to the tanned project.Hope the prices will be close to the last sales, time will tell....

Yeppers. A bit of everything. A real nice 3x wolf that I’ll bet will be xxpl. I would’ve entered it in our fur competition but it shifted just a hair on the board as it dried. It’ll be nice to watch what it’ll go for.

I sent 3 beaver and 9 coon. First time ever sending beaver there. Kind of excited about it. Sold everything else at our state sale or on FB. Did very well at our state auction. And this sale should be a very big onel. Imo! Hopefully a repeat of 2013! Im guessing 100 percent clearances on almost everything.

Nice looking Marten Boco and good catch Mud! I had quite a bit of fur on first sale including Bobcat and Marten. This sale, 7 Lynx, 3 Marten, 26 Ermine, 9 Coyote, 34 Rats and 72 Beaver
Know a guy that caught 95 Lynx this year, north of $500 Cdn average on first sale - has more for June sale. Hope this fur market has strength ; our industry needs it!
Pretty stoked about next season

Nice looking fur Mud! I don’t have much for rats ever, but you’ve always got a real top lot selection. I hope you get graded well. Did you ever reach out to Johnny Ringo? He’s looking for black rats IIRC. I sent all my coon to him instead of the June auction. The big stuff does ok at NB, but Ringo pays well for the nice smaller ones.

I don’t know the potential hassles of sending fur north of the border and payment in Canadian dollars vrs US. Not sure either of us would want to deal with that. I’d be happy with what he paid for the Black rats in March though. It was consistent with what I’ve gotten historically.

Moving raw fur for the average guy just across provincial borders is messy, never mind international. It can be done, but not worth it for the little guys. I wanted to bring a raw wolf over into Saskatchewan, just for a weekend, couple months ago. The crap I needed to do it legally, forget it.

I predict order of sale will be the usual.
Day 1 - wolves, wolverine, bears, zoo, dressed goods.
Day 2 - beaver, otter, rats, fisher.lunch break, sable, all the foxes
Day 3 - probably mink to start, finish. With Lynx and then bobcat.
Not sure where coyotes and coon will be since nobody cares.
Day 1 gets the misc goods with limited buyer interest out of the way. Gives the serious buyers another day to look at samples.
Day 3 end the sale with a big ticket item.

Day 3 end the sale with a big ticket item. Being bias, I would explore putting mink ahead of rats. Considering mink are strong and rats need help. I see the zoo as day 1 and believe that it works well. Day 2 it would be nice to see beaver, otter, mink and then rats. With coon and coyotes, being another weak link, while hoping the market continues to advance sold late giving the market time to adjust. My thoughts is injecting weaker species can temper momentum. As things seemed to stall when rats got put in on the March sale. I don’t know how much consideration is giving to order of sale. I think a strategy could be beneficial.

I used to like when they had the december sale. It was nice to get a fur cheque for christmas. But I guess with the less people trapping nowadays there would not be attractive volumes of fur on a december sale to attract the international buyers and not enough north american buyers today.

When it comes to the zoo and speciality items - there are plenty of North American buyers. They outnumber the foreign buyers big time!! Maybe they could put on a zoo sale in december. If you shipped to NAFA and OTA there were probably 7 or 8 sales dates. I think they tried a september sale a couple times as a clean up sale. Polar bears were a hot item for the chinamen for a few years, dont know if polar bears are considered zoo.

Not many of those fox went north. I sold most to repeat customers and at the ITA auction. A bunch were skinned claws on etc. I only sent 23 I think up there after I pulled the claws on ones out.

You could start trapping mid August. Didn't FHA roll the last receiving date back a few years ago?

I believe the lrd back then was a couple weeks before the sale. The sale was a couple weeks before christmas,So around end nov.Everybody got their cheque before christmas for their fall fur.Land fur opens in the north oct 25,water fur oct 5 likely all Canadian fur on the early sale. Was a lot of fall beaver trapped back then cause they were worth way more than open water spring beaver. Mink too were on that early sale as well as early fox which sold good back then colour trumped weight in red fox back in the day.

The current order of sale works good. Putting the zoo first gives the major items buyers another full day for inspection. Plus they might bid on some zoo items.
When the zoo was last, most of the bigger buyers were already on their way to the next sale. Just dedicated zoo buyers left. Yep, there are different theories on where to put cheap or low demand fur. Some think to put it in between hot ticket items, so there are more buyers in the room that might bid on it if they think they are getting a deal. Because as you said on the zoo, if it is put last, and they already got what they came for, they aren't sticking around. Others say if they have a limited budget they are going to save it all for bidding on what they came for, but if the hot ticket items sell high and they are already sold out, buyers that didn't win them may stick around and buy up some of the low demand fur, to salvage something out of the sale, rather than go home empty handed. I suspect either can be true at times, depends on the buyers and the year.

Normally you won't see any receipts up until a few days before the sale.

Preliminary numbers out now.
April is autism awareness month. Nearly 1 in every 100 children are born with an autism spectrum disorder.. 1 in 100. Stop and think about it...please

Beaver numbers are way down from June of 2025. 51,000 down to 36,000.

Beaver numbers are way down from June of 2025. 51,000 down to 36,000. That could be good for the folks with beaver at the sale if the demand for hatters stays high.
Eh...wot?

That’s sad, for the time being it is a hopeless country market. Likely due to the effort it takes to finish, coupled with low auction returns. One could hope it’s a sign of production, which it likely is. However there is a disproportionate amount going places other than auction which is holding them down IMHO.

Yes, I was surprised on low Beaver volume too - should help averages for the hard core Beaver trappers. Good to see Lynx volumes increase, but still WAY under what could be produced. New higher pricing came too late in season to really push Lynx harvest I guess. 8500 Bobcat …wowza
Trapping isn’t a hobby - it’s a lifestyle

Most of the best bobcats are caught in Feb, too late for the earlier auction. I bet prices are great on the prettier cats, well I hope for the trappers they are !! All US side cats were held for second sale. To me the biggest surprise for March was how well the lower grades did. Hoping it continues on...the Southerners need something more than Lone Star to happy 'em up.

Man im still unable to login might have to give them a call They still haven’t “counted” my species & numbers yet. No June auction comes up on my account. Maybe once they enter the trappers numbers is when they’ll open your account?

Hey BigBay...maybe they'll hold your goods for the March '27 sale! Cheers!
