This is seriously getting ridiculous and out of hand. Price gouging at its finest.. 4.89 per gallon here in my neighborhood. It literally jumped 40 cents from this morning. Keeps getting any higher and there’s gonna be some serious problems with affordability… especially with the folks who have long commutes to work. Costs of living were already difficult, not to mention being taxed to death.
No one is seriously interested in going after oil companies for price gouging.. they sure do offer lip service though.

Always perplexed why people freak out when a gasoline fill-up costs $25 more than the average you've been paying, then don't think anything about walking in a paying another $10 for a bottle of water and 2 roller dogs Me too. I sure can’t walk 15-20 miles for $4.99 and make it pay. Pretty good deal actually.

Trouble with skyrocketing fuel prices is a rise in the cost of anything transported, which is everything. Inflation Intrest rates will also go up- an opportunity for those with no debt.

Just when fur prices seem to be improving the gol dang gas prices will make it tough to run a long line unless something happens between now and next fall. Dang Persians….why did they have to attack us? Your logic is flawed. The recent increase in fur prices will more than offset an increase in gas prices. Most profit I've ever had is when gas prices were high. But might set this situation we're in from before is the reason oil went up in the past is because the dollar got weaker making fur more affordable to the foreign countries. We'll see what happens

Gas is a minor expense for me on the traplines. I can run my honda bike all day on a ltr of gas. One marten will cover gas for a couple years for the bike..

My bobcat lines this last season were about 225 miles or roughly 15 gallons. One has to be very optimistic that 1. You’re a productive trapper. And 2. That prices hold…recent history has shown that is a stretch.

Geez BP thats a long ways to go to catch a few cats. last year i got 7 cats out of two jackpots and a couple trail sets about 8 km from home on my line close to town. That particular line is in the core lynx habitat which was horse logged in the 40s.

MN bobcat prices have quadrupled, marten the same, beaver up 5 to 7 dollars, mink at least tripled, weasels doubled, 15 gallons means and extra 20 bucks a day. It's a no brainer

2022 gas hit a national average of over 5 bucks a gallon. People have short memories......I took the bike to run errands today. 45 mpg isn't too bad. People didn't like it then, and they don't like it now. Makes sense to me.

Would it help to finish the Keystone pipeline out of Canada? Trump was working on it before Biden come along and stopped it. It would help you move more heavy crude to your refineries by about 500 000 barrels per day but it wouldn’t help with reducing your gas prices by much. If you’re still wondering why, that is about 1/200th the amount of oil moving globally per day.

Yep, I tried saying that over 2 months ago and most of those threads got axed because folks couldn’t see the difference between political fall out and military operations. I still contend the war was the biggest political mistake since moron Carter’s policies or Bush Sr saying “Read my lips”.

While I don't drive enough for the price at the pump to significantly affect me, I believe we are just now beginning to see the overall effect. Every single thing we buy relies on crude. First it is flew or railed, sailed or trucked somewhere, all of which requires fuel, then it is further transported to retail locations. Not to mention all the businesses requiring fuel just to produce those items before transport... whether it's produced by a multinational corporation, or a farmer on a tractor. Even if the war ended today, the ramifications of these higher prices will last for a while, I am afraid.

you folks are lucky, the village down the road from us is paying 10.25 per gallon for gas. The village across the bay from them is out of fuel until the barge comes in next month after the ocean ice goes away.

I'm afraid it's going to get worse.

How could any president have prevented high gas prices last time? We know the one cause this time.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but crude oil prices peaked about 5 days ago. On Monday, US initiated Operation Freedom, which began escorting ships out of Persian Gulf.......which resulted in a few missiles fired at UAE and 6 fast boats sunk. In short.....almost no ability at all for Iran to enforce closure of the straight. The Black Knight was still making threats, but had lost both arms and legs.
Then yesterday, it was announced a halt on that plan to entertain new Iran proposals.....suggesting Iran is about to fold. This morning crude oil prices dropped $10 a barrel or about 12% overnight. Dow broke 50,000 this morning too. About a month ago, when TACO (as some like to call him) announced a cease fire agreement and then head of Iran said they would open Straight........oil prices dropped to $79 a barrel overnight.
This was and always has been a temp price spike......and unfortunate side affect of dealing with Iran......the worlds largest sponsor of terror. In about 90 days, TACO may be on the verge of taking them down......flipping entire dynamic of middle east in process. Paying a few bucks more for gas on a temp basis to achieve that goal seems like a small sacrifice to make to get to that end. That is a different story than before when it was done deliberate and on purpose and was supposed to be for the long haul. If I have to pick one path to follow it would not be that one.

Have to fill my pickup this morning. Not looking forward to it. Diesel was 5.05 yesterday. No clue what gas will be. If we end up with an Iran that no longer attempts to acquire nukes, no money to fund islamic insanity, I will put up with it.

Recent events look promising, but this could actually get worse before it gets better. But the big picture is..........likely it is going to get better once the IRGC is taken down. To me, that needs to be the end game. We have been slightly mislead about Iran. On the surface, it appears to be a Theocratic form of government run by the clerics. But what we quickly found out is it is actually being run by the IRGC, which represents about half of 1 percent of the population, but which have been skimming about 40% of all oil revenue Iran gets and using it to enrich themselves and to pay for all the terror activities. The nukes was but one part of it, but it was going to be a big part. Had they gotten nukes, doing what TACO has done to them not possible without major fireworks.
IRGC it turns out is run more or less like the mobs......or drug cartels........except with a violent purpose. It is all those boys know and they have no other life or purpose in life except to continue. I don't see them walking away no matter how bad it gets. So this is likely to continue until the other 90M or so Iranians are able to overwhelm whatever oppressive force they have to submit to now......and start taking the IRGC bunch out. The boots on the ground are already there.......they just don't have the means to rise up.......yet.
But as long as IRGC remains in power.......they will be back. It will take time......but will be back. We went this far, if it takes a few more steps to take that bunch down, so be it. They gotta go.

I feel sorry for the people that need gas or diesel in volume for their job or have much distance to get to their job... I probably average 10-15 gallons a week so really haven't felt it much... yet.

My cousin gave me some "I did that!" stickers. Put one on the gas pump and copper wire the other day. 25 percent tariff on copper wire.

I flew into Anchorage yesterday.
Unleaded is about 5.49 and diesel is 6.29 Need some stickers for sticker shock? Stay away from the beef aisle. A moose is worth about 4 thousand dollars in meat now.

Even if peace breaks out in the Middle East, it will be months before the oil market returns to anything resembling normal—and much of the industry may never be the same. The lag in restoring operations after the largest supply disruption in history will keep oil prices elevated for months, and will likely add a smaller premium for well over a year, experts say. On Wednesday, oil prices were falling on news that the U.S. and Iran were close to agreeing to the framework of a peace deal. Brent crude futures , the international benchmark, settled down 7.8% to $101.27. The State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR exchange-traded fund fell 4.1%, with Exxon Mobil dropping 4%.
But investors shouldn’t expect oil prices to drop much more in the near-term, analysts said. Gasoline too, could stay elevated. Average prices hit a multiyear high on Wednesday of $4.54 per gallon.
In recent days, analysts have been hiking their oil price estimates for the rest of 2026 to over $100 per barrel. Raymond James analyst John Freeman sees Brent prices at $110 in the third quarter and $100 in the fourth, he wrote in a note on Monday. Elevated prices could last into 2027. His average Brent price estimate is at $90 in the second quarter of next year.
“Predicting prices in the hyper-volatile world of war, jawboning, and social media posts is nearly impossible, but we’re confident in this: Physical market impacts are extreme, and the consequences for the oil market will be very long-lasting regardless of how soon the conflict may end,” he wrote. The news about a possible deal between the U.S. and Iran doesn’t change his price expectations, Freeman wrote in an email on Wednesday.
Noah Barrett, lead energy and utilities analyst at Janus Henderson, said in an interview that he considers Wednesday’s drop in oil stocks to be a buying opportunity. “I would be a buyer on the weakness today or continued weakness,” he said. Barrett said he’d focus on companies without much exposure to the Middle East, who drill in places like the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.
If the war does in fact wind down, the oil industry will still be stuck in deficit for a while. About 20% of the world’s oil normally flows through the Strait of Hormuz, but the Iranian and U.S. blockades have stopped almost all of it from flowing. About 5 million barrels of oil from Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. have been rerouted to other pipelines away from the Strait, but that’s only a partial release valve.
Middle Eastern countries have shut in more than 11 million barrels of daily oil production. Those operations don’t simply turn back on immediately. In March, Shaikh Nawaf Al-Sabah, the CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, told a Houston energy conference that some production would likely take months to restore.
Even in an optimistic scenario, “meaningful” amounts of oil won’t move through the Strait until June, with volumes climbing back to 80% to 90% of normal by July, wrote Paola Rodriguez-Masiu, Rystad Energy’s chief oil analyst. “The physical market does not run on political timelines,” she says.
The cumulative size of the oil market’s deficit has ballooned. About 1 billion barrels of oil that would normally have been produced and sent to customers between the start of the war and today never made it to their end destination. To make up for the shortfall, countries are on pace to empty their oil storage tanks at a rate of about 5.5 million barrels a day this quarter—the most ever, according to S&P Global Energy. Once production is restored, they’ll need to replenish those stockpiles, boosting demand and elevating prices even more.
What’s more, the war has done long-lasting damage to infrastructure, and some facilities could take years to come back—if they come back at all.
Oil equipment company NOV said on its earnings call last week that between 500,000 and 2.5 million barrels of oil production may be permanently lost because of the war. Shutting in wells in a hurry can damage them, or make the restart process too difficult. Barrett said he’s not sure that the wells have actually sustained that much damage, but it’s one of many unknowns that could impede the oil market’s comeback.
“There’s some optimism today that we’re closer to the war ending,” he said. “I don’t think you can snap your fingers and magically things go back to normal.”

In the entire history of the Middle Eastern conflicts, were any of them truly “won” and over with “quickly?” My concern is we have a lot more pain coming. Jim

Average around here is 6.79 for diesel filled up on the REZ yesterday at 6.59. Fortunately the pass isn't open yet so prices haven't gone through the roof, once the pass opens and wetsiders can get to the area prices will probably jump .40 to .50 per gal
