I believe they are called English "Gin" traps. If you post this on the Trap Collectors forum I am sure some of the fine gents there will help you out.
I have nothing clever to put here.

That would make sense peck the feed in the pan until it fell. Never seen them before but I think you came to the right place.

They come out of Europe. I saw them when I was in Spain. The Spanish said they were rabbit traps. For their size they were real weak. I had one I got in Spain and gave it to Bridger Fur for their trap collection.

Not saying they are stronger enough to hold a larger furbearer. However, most people always fail to put the priority on the "trap locking up" , the lever keeping the jaws tight. If it was really a matter of spring strength most traps would not hold a larger animal for long. Springs need to close the trap fast enough that the animal can't react quickly a pull its foot away before the jaws shut. At that point it becomes only necessary for the springs to hold the lever up so that jaws can not separate. That makes good sense. Keith

Is there any value in those traps?
Keith I have been out of collecting for quite a few years now but as I recall they had minimal value, mostly because they have no makers name on them. If I had to GUESS, $10 each or so.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Savell....
Sorry for the late reply. I don't get coverage in my woodshop.
Yes there are many people in France who share your name. Some of them would even be welcome at your next tri tip BBQ. Most probably not. Too far left to hang with folks like you.

Actually, now that I'm in the house at the PC, I found out that there aren't as many as I thought, but some.
So the odds of any of them enjoying the BBQ probably went down, but since there aren't so many, I can take care of them myself.
I also learned there is a link from the English name Saville. You might be part English to boot. I'm not sure if on Tman that's a good thing or not.

Saville still sounds more french than english. Please don't tell Savell he might also be english, he already has enough shame on his plate.

You're gonna need to sign up fellow raiders...I bet you won't have trouble rounding up a posse!.
Remember Vikings sold their captives into slavery...gotta pay the expenses of keeping a crew!, lol Imagine Carl would buy all the mescins you can round up Savell if the price is right.
