Well, if a co worker or someone says you're full of "you-know-what" your rejoinder is you can supply medical evidence to the affirm that opinion.

Pill size was hard to swallow. I am not used to having large "things" in my mouth.

Last year when I had mine done, I was still sporting the colostomy bag. For prep, that's the way to go.

I have had many colon exams because of a family history. I had colon cancer about seven years ago, I am on a three year schedule. I request that I not be sedated so I can see the procedure on the monitor and the doctor can talk to me as he explores the great unknown. There is no pain at all.

My cancer was caught at stage 1. A portion of my colon was soon removed and reconnected. No chemo or radiation needed.

I encourage all of you to follow the recommended exam schedules. When I was in my 60s ( now 79), a doctor said that at my age I would never need another colon exam. Boy was he wrong. My son now gets his every three years because of our family history. He has had several polyps. He is 49. His younger sister is being followed as well.

It is not fun, but it is a life saver if a cancer is detected very early. By removing the suspicious polyps, a future cancer can be easily prevented.

I am probably preaching to the choir. Stay on schedule and stay alive.
