Wissmiss and others, question on the March sales/CITES items.
I understand the bobcats are held until the June sale. Is this just cats or is it all CITES items?
For example, if I send otter before the shipping deadline for the march sale, are they sold on the march or june sale?
Gotta live up to the nickname...

Point well taken. You are correct.
I still think 94% sold is too high. Guess we will see when the sold catalog is posted in a couple of weeks. Initial report was 82% sold, If in the fact it is true at 94% then that means they could have been 12% private treaty sales afterward which I am not sure will show up in the catalog. I do recall peeler saying he had two cats sell private treaty out of his lots. Mark likes to hold over some cats for the March sale because as we know there is not as many consigned. I think he will push the price on the better stuff in June or if he feels the price is to cheap to hold it for March. Also you need supply to attract buyers.

The way I remember NAFA and probably FHA is PT sales within a day or two after the Auction are added to sold sales percentage. Nothing new there. Probably why they call it Final results as opposed to day 1,2,or 3 results
I'm with wallfur. First I heard they were not offering fur that made the shipping deadline on the next available sale, I suspected reindeer games. March is usually where you want your fur sold. Not the 10% off sale in May or June.

I posted the following a few days ago on another thread: My understanding was that all lynx cats on the March sale were either hold over pelts or fresh pelts from Canada. No fresh lynx cats from the US due to Cites processing. All US collected lynx cats were held and then processed for the June sale. Same with otters and lynx. And Wissmiss responded with the following: QuietButDeadly - I think your understanding is 100% correct. I agree completely with your statement

Nancy if what I hear is true, maybe they didn't offer cats in March was because their graders were too busy....

They didn't have many cats to grade as they were holding all (USA) received cats on the US side of the border until after the last receiving date for June. That's what I was told so that they could just do CITES paperwork once.

I actually had three in one lot that the hammer didn't fall for. They were valued at $200 but by the end of the day they showed up as sold for $150. So i guess they were PT'ed later in the day.

definitely find out what sale your cats will be on before shipping early for the march sale.trappers that shipped in january for the march sale and then got held for june sale could have put there fur on county sales in march and then ship for june sale if they didnt like the prices in the country....most western sales averaged higher for the western cats in march on the state sales than fha sale in june. That could be misleading though if most of all the better cats were bought back in June.
