I agree. I have my own chickens and sometimes for whatever reason don't have enough eggs so buy store bought and I can tell zero difference.

Now, I CAN tell a difference between the eggs of different types of fowl. For example.... I don't care for duck eggs other than for baking... I like my eggs over easy or soft scrambled and do not like the texture of the whites of duck eggs. On the other hand, I find quail eggs much superior in taste to chicken eggs.

But store bought vs. homegrown chicken eggs? Naw.... no difference other than in color.

While we are on the subject. We usually have a few extra when the girls get rolling in the summer. When we get to far behind I put them in bags and hang on neighbors mail boxes in the am. going to work. A couple years ago one of the recipients called me. Really liked the eggs but, going forward if I left some she didn't want any with brown shells as she didn't eat brown eggs. G.

The whites are about the same but the yokes have much more flavor.

This, free run eggs yokes taste stronger, more flavorful .
I laugh at people that think brown eggs are better than white or any other color eggs.
But if the farmer can get more per dozen for brown eggs, good for them.

Yes duck, goose, eggs are a lot stronger tasting than chicken eggs , never tried quail so don't have a clue.
I like my farm free range eggs, if for nothing more than the color of the yoke. Support local farmers also.

Eggs: during the shortage when local farmers were getting six bucks a dozen all the local women decided to make a buck and egg stands appeared out of nowhere. Now people are giving eggs away. Hutterite eggs are $1.25 a dozen and they feed wheat and corn.
As far as flavor it depends on the feed. I know that a local farmer grass feeds his hens and moves them around the pasture. The flavor is far superior to the Hutterite eggs and the farmer sells all he can produce.

ABSOLUTELY! I’ve had the opportunity to compare hen-house eggs that I know how they were fed as I would contribute a bag of feed every 2 weeks with what I believe are quality eggs from the store. NO frigin difference to my taste compared one-on-one in the same skillet!! There are a number of things you can feed chickens to get more colored yolks (orange, darker yellow, etc) the same with increasing protein for flavor(carcasses certainly work but how many feed their chicken carcasses everyday?), all you have to do is look it up. It’s not rocket science!!

So will letting them peck away at a beaver carcass….or the underside of one after it decomposes a little bit and maggots are present…

I think they’re better, if you free range them! And you know how fresh they are! It’s just like a vegetable garden!!

Eagle eggs are great. Two make a heck of an omelet. Loon eggs actually taste fishy to me.

Idk I season and cook all my eggs the same way and store bought one just most of our friends who buy from us say they don't like the store bought ones anymore except for mabye hard boiling

Not 100% free ranging 100% of the time but the tractors give them good access to a part of the yard we let grow a lil wild they love clover

Store bought does not always mean conventional, caged etc. you can buy organic free range eggs in many places today. Most in our area are locally sourced.

My chickens love carcass beaver. The eggs are better from farm raised vs store

I saw a guy use a chicken tractor to fertilize his garden!! He would more it every day. He claimed it helped with his nitrogen!! I never tried that. Good idea though.

Yeppers they work pretty good for that , same with the rabbit tractors !

Had laying hens for years. Now we just buy eggs from the store, it’s cheaper than feeding the dang things. An eggs an egg. I’ll argue over the bacon, sausage and scrapple. But not the egg lol.

I have a small flock of 18. I fed them carcasses over the winter to supplement the feed. They are now eating grass and overflow from the garden.

We sold our eggs for $2.50/dozen even through the shortage. Have a loyal group of buyers and have fresh eggs anytime I want.
