My son-in-law took my grandmother's metal box fan. The brand is dominion ... But the fan is from the 50s, and he took apart. My central air laid the fan flat on the shroud, blew off the hot air off the coils and I've had perfect air conditioning for the last 5 days. I covered it with a board on some stilts...

He is ordering the new fan and we saved ourselves a ton of money [Linked Image]

I always keep a spare capacitor and a set of contacts at home.cheap insurance.i bet you replace that capacitor the fan will kick on.and if it turns out to actually be the fan,you aint out much and now have a spare capacitor.i would definitely try it and se before I spent the money on a new fan

I would also cut that grass back away from it and clean the coils good

Flux capacitor. Keep the fan speed below 88 and you'll be fine.

A weedeating session looks like a good start.

Usually everything is cleaned up snuff, right now, I'm trying to get out of this house during a divorce. So if it's a little less Tidy, I can't help it.
