I'm happy about it. Shot one out today with my pellet gun. (season opened June first. Oak tree in my yard)Stayed treed probably 5 minutes while I noticed then loaded and pumped up the pellet rifle. (old 20 caliber Sheridan blue streak.) He is a decent bird dog. Pretty much ignores everything else when bird hunting. I hope to change that. I'm sure he will still find and point birds. I like squirrel. I'm going to keep encouraging him.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

LOL. Sometimes dogs surprise you. My grandfather said that the best pheasant dog he ever had was a redbone hound.

Many old lines of cur/feist had a shot of bird dog in the mix to improve winding ability.
