Here is a recap of round one. This was from last Saturday.
"Zim ran over a nest of yellow jackets with the mower yesterday. That, however, was not a happy dance. He was stung by dozens of them. One got stuck in his sock and got him numerous times before he was free. He was not feeling too good last night, but he felt that the sourdough was aiding in his recovery."
Nessy was encouraging me to take good care of him.
"I'm taking good care of him! I just went out on a very quiet reconnaissance mission to mark the yellow jacket nest. I hate to laugh, but it was obvious where Zim's lawn mowing pattern went off the deep end! I found the little demons, gently slipped a survey flag into their hole and quietly walked away. Hee. Hee. Hee. Zim's napalm mission begins tonight after dark.

Here was my final report...
"Just thought I'd wrap up the hornet story by showing Zim's final word last night on the yellow jackets who pummeled him.

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.

Time to go inside and enjoy another piece of sourdough toast with honey!"

Fast forward to yesterday. We have been watching clouds of yellow jackets still circling our jelly feeder, so we know there is another nest. GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
I saw a few articles that say to watch them and see which way they fly and that will tell you where their nest is. Sure, I thought. I stared them down for a while and I could swear that, as fast as they are, I saw four different yellow jackets leave the feeder, exit stage left and head downward at a 45 degree angle. (Our deck and feeders are about 12 feet off the ground.) So I projected a line in my mind and headed down there...and there was their hole with tons of activity. I went a got another survey flag and quietly slipped it in for Zim's attack later.
To be continued...
