Going to be basing out of Bessemer City, NC for 3 weeks in October, while I preach at churches in Rockwell, Ballards Crossroads, Connellys Springs, Richfield, North Wilkesboro, and Sallisbury. Any good BBQ joints around these places? Or family owned restaurants of any kind? Will be traveling without the wife and kids, usually sleeping in the vehicle two nights, get a motel the third for a shower, eating meals off a propane stove most of the time, but going to a restaurant every 6th meal or so. I am so disappointed to go to a restaurant and get bad food, and despise fast food.

Check out The Smokepit in Concord, NC. Great BBQ restaurant. I think Salisbury might have a Smokepit location now but the one in Concord is the original, and the best one in my opinion.

My favorite in the western side of the state is JD's Smokehouse in Rutherford College. That's about an hour from Bessemer City, but if your travels bring you down I40 you gotta stop at JD's. When you are in Connelly Springs you will be 5 minutes from JD's.

When you are in Rockwell check out Los Jacubes Mexican restaurant. Half your congregation will probably be headed there after service anyway.

When you are in Richfield check out the Richfield Family Kitchen or Marli's.
