.... buzzing overhead videoing outdoor weddings. It's an obnoxious trend imo.

My son got his high tech drone licence a couple years ago for doing areal survey work and Gps verification at the mine.
He is looking into starting up his own drone buisness as a sideline for companies that need that kind of expertise.
Those high tech drones are not cheap-start up will be expensive but the returns should be very lucrative.

I have only seen one drone, since I moved away from WPAFB, back in 2012.

I couldn't agree more. The last few years before I retired those things drove me crazy! Between having to shut down aircraft over fires and trying to track down all the knot heads that fly them in the BWCA to get "wilderness" pictures I learned to genuinely hate them.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I love them. Have several but a few nice DJI’s. One with thermal we use to hog hunt with. We can check the back fields without unloading the sxs or worry about tearing up the farmers fields if the roads are alittle wet. My buddy has one he can fly over and it marks and counts his cows for him.

They're just a tool like anything else. It's the user.

Over private property, a 12 ga 3 inch mag load of #4's will do wonders.

Pro tip - Wear a headnet.

Like it or not, they are considered an aircraft so it is the same as firing a shot at a Cessna.

Just talked to a guy last night whose hunting party uses them to drive elk from private land onto public land. I was shocked the he didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with that; he had no clue that it's illegal.

Pffft....Like it or not, it's a sport around here, and so is sniping FLOCK cameras.

Revenuers (moonshine), and state police camo commando wannabe's (grass) had to learn the hard way too.

As with almost all technology there is the good, bad and ugly. For crop scouting by farmers and agronomist they are wonders as you can inspect a whole field instead of certain spots and do an average. Working with the yield monitors on harvest equipment and doing mapping the amount of inputs can range within a field based on real and pinpoint data. This can lower costs and also reduce input uses that can help the environment.
DNR has discontinued the use of helicopters in the winter for certain species counts, due to high cost. Drones can cover more area at lower costs and collect more data.
