Oil change will be done today. I ordered the Range AFM delete, will be here in a few days. Transmission cooler will also be ordered this week. And I will schedule a tranny flush and filter. WOW I need a part time job!

Are all these plug in delete units pretty much the same? Quite a price difference in some…

I would recommend adding a transmission cooler and installing a shift kit. That will solve most all the issues it has. If not that at least have it serviced every 45000 miles with a good AC Delco filter and a fluid flush.

Any AFM delete will work. A good tune is better but a bit more involved. You can also get the transmission tuned while you're at it. Aside from that always make sure to change your oil every 5000 miles!

Glad this topic came up. I too have a 2019 silverado 1500 with the 5.3 and about 59K. Every now and then there’s a real delay when I shift it into gear, and it shifts in kinda hard when it does. My dad had also recently been reading about the AFM delete fob and urging me to get one.

Definitely have some thinking and planning to do now as far as what route I go from here. Happy trapping! ScottW

Coon Duke, I called my local chevy dealership and talked to the mechanic there. He recommended the plug in unit sold at Summit. I looked it up and it list for 280. I found the same unit on the walmart site for 185. It is called the Range Technology RA003B AFM/DFM Disabler. I ordered one and I will let you know my results. It is suppose to arrive by the 14th.

Active Fuel Management. It makes your v8 run like a 4 cylinder.

nexdrive obd2 is the brand that i know several friends are using. They seem happy with it. I had an 07 with the first year for afm, what a nightmare! I just traded it this weekend with 360,000 miles on it.

I run a Boost plug in module on my 2015 and a Range module on my 2023 Silverado's. The Range module on my 2023 also gets ris of the engine shut-off at a stop.
