I know this doesn't have anything to do with trapping, welding or some other manly pursuit, but this really has me under the table. So sit back with you drink of choice and see if it makes sense to anyone. There is a short version of this. On august 30, I had printing job to do for my class reunion. I printed without any problem160 pages of various things. Just plain B & W on letter paper. Didn't have anything to print for a few days, but on September 4, I had a Windows 10, critical update. Which seemed to go flawlessly. On September the 6th, I had a printing job to do for a genealogy customer. I opened program, clicked on printed and got nothing. I checked the connection and ran the gamut of all of the normal checks., About 3 or 4 times. It appeared the computer was not communicating or connecting to the printer. Now this is an almost $400 printer, because I prefer good result.
I contact with HP and they told me to do this and that and it should work. Well, it didn't. Since the printer is a few years old it is out of warranty and they said I could send it in and they would work on it. The said when I ask how much possibly $200 or more plus ship both ways. I ask them if they then guaranteed that it would work or they would give me my money back . NO!
So I got to thinking … I have had problem in the past with WIndows10 Critical updates. Phone call was fruitless, couldn't under stand the person and they really didn't sound like they were very bright. Probably reading out of a prepared script. So I looked through their site and found sever things they suggested … tried them and the didn't work. zSo I said to heck with it and bought a canon that was on sale.( that didn't really have money to spend on it.
I followed the their installation and set up instructions to a "T". The same dam thing. Worked on it for two days and have now had to stop. Having PTSD is not a fun thing to have and when something of this nature comes along... well the bottom drops out and I look for the deepest hole I can and fall into it.
I am getting really hard of hearing and talking with someone that is on the phone trying to me some in a half assed English/foreign language do help matters.I truly think it is Windows 10 Causing all of the prolems.
I if anyone out there is a computer whiz … and think they can help me... I would be very grateful for any assistance. My next step is to teach the computer some manner with a .45 cal.
Thank you for at least reading this.

When you click on print on your document it should bring up a box with a bunch of options. One of those options should be which printer you want to send the document to. Make sure it is your printer and not microsoft pdf or anther like program.
If it is also a copier does that side of things work ok?

My next step is to teach the computer some manner My next step would be to take it to Staples or Best Buy or ANY local 'puter shop and let a pro look at it. The money avoiding MORE stress/strife is usually well spent.

We don't know what solutions you've tried, so let's start from the beginning. I'll assume you know enough to navigate through menus. Go to:
1. Settings 2. Devices 3, Printers & scanners (on the left-hand sidebar)
Do you see your printer listed under "Printers & scanners" on the right-hand side? If yes, is it listed as the Default?

I am not a computer whiz, but I can function pretty well in handling most programs … when it comes to the highly technical stuff … I don't mess with it. The bad thing is … I have just read through every suggestion every is trying to be helpful … but I have done, I think everyone has suggested. I too have had previous problems with upgrades … lost favorites once and lost all my emails once, but those were things that, although didn't make me very happy... it didn't devastate me.
I got the new printer, because It is a number of years old. Even though I have been using it with out any problems, until this last update. If I reinstall windows, I will lose everything and with that I might as well take a sledge hammer to the computer I have.
When I go into devices etc … it shows that the printer is default and it says, "This device is working properly".. When I try to print something from any program, and I have tried all of them, it goes to the queue and then just disappears and says on the print screen "Collecting Printer Status".... then just goes away
When I run the trouble shooter, either on printer or computer …. I get: "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem" … so it is telling me there is problem, but isn't smart enough to know what it is.
I can't afford to pay a couple hundred dollars to have someone check it. I ask them at Best Buy … if I paid them a hundred bucks to work on it and the couldn't fix it, would I get my money back and they told me NO!

I think I would UNINSTALL the printer and then REINSTALL it. Maybe you have tried that already.
That's what I was thinking. Possibly you could go to Control Panel, click on Devices & Printers, click on that particular printer, then click on Status to see what print jobs are in the que. Restarting printing might be an option there. If the que is full I would consider deleting some jobs, but deleting print jobs is a slow process. I had a similar problem awhile back, and as best I remember I cured it by clicking restart printing on the status page. For my part, I have switched from HP to Brother Printers because of the frequency and cost of replacing HP ink cartridges.

Could you tell us which printer you have, name and model number? For example, "HP Color LaserJet 2605"

Could you tell us which printer you have, name and model number? For example, "HP Color LaserJet 2605" the new printer I just got is a Canon PIXMA TS9120 (All In One). Are you printing wireless, if so, try connecting a USB cable and see if it will print. You are supposed to be able to configure it for wireless or USB. I am NOT interested in using it wireless, and configured it according to directions, for USB only. I think I would UNINSTALL the printer and then REINSTALL it. Maybe you have tried that already. I have already did this several times... to no avail.Garry-

Might be a bad USB cable. That could be. Once I had a Pixma that I failed to get plugged in all the way and worked all day at tax time trying to get it to print, when I quit and unplugged it I seen it wasn't in all the way. You might try a different usb port on your puter sometimes they won't always make a good connection. And or get a different cable and try.

I still think it's related to the Win. 10 update. Try the following if you haven't already done so. Note: this is not necessarily the same as uninstalling your printer. 1. Press the Windows Key (key with windows icon) and the X key at the same time. 2. On the list that pops up, click on Device Manager. 3. In Device Manager you'll see another list; click on Print Queues to expand it. 4. Right click on the printer device - Canon PIXMA - and click on uninstall. Once you've uninstalled the printer driver, restart your computer and it should automatically install the generic printer driver. Note: make sure the printer in plugged into your computer and turned on. If that doesn't work.... Click on the following link to download the latest driver for your printer and save the exe file to your desktop or downloads folder. (I've already checked the file - win-ts9100-1_1-n_mcd.exe - and it's safe) http://pdisp01.c-wss.com/gdl/WWUFORedirectTarget.do?id=MDEwMDAwODgzODAy&cmp=ABR&lang=EN1. Right-click on the driver setup file (win-ts9100-1_1-n_mcd.exe) and select Properties. 2. Select Compatibility tab. 3. Check Run this program in Compatibility mode. 4. Let the driver install, and then see if the printer works by printing a test page.

Pack 3) … they said THIS PROGRAM CANNOT BE USED WITH THE CURRANT OPERATING SYSTEM ……… I tried the other Uninstall and reinstall and the only thing I got different was small wind with a printer icon that Said, Device or printer (don't remember) NOT FUNCTIONING … that was new. What size of hammer would you suggest I use on it? Garry-

Let's check to see if your Print Spooler is running in the Services.
1. Press the Windows Key and the X key. 2. Click on Computer Management. 3. In Computer Management click on Services and Applications to expand it. 4. Click on Services and scroll down the list to Print Spooler.
Under the Status column it should be Running and under the Startup Type it should be Automatic. Is that what you see?

When I click on Win X, the screen opens up, but when try and click on anything …. the screen goes away and nothing pops up. Before I was able to go into settings and do a search and found what I needed this time no luck. I completely uninstalled the whole program and started over and guess what happen …. NOT A (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) THING!!! Then I did a follow-up and redid the drivers …. same results. Time to go get drunk. At least then I would have a good reason for a headache. Oh yes... when reinstalling I got what I have right from the beginning … when I get to the 3rd step it is apparently finished installing …. It ell me to do a test print, with a start button... you can sit a wait all day and nothing happens when you push the START button. You are close Adam about a third grader … except it is just some Chinaman. I used to be a technical writer and wrote instruction manuals. We had this old maid that was in her late 50s at the time, that I gave them too and if should understood and could perform the task, we knew we were in the right ball park. Garry-

LOL last time RESTORE IT TO PREVIOUS DATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well I tried.
Or just (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) can it and go to Walmart spend 250 and all is well You only have a TEN day period to go back to a previous version or so they say on their web site … Microsoft. I just spent $100, I didn't have to spend on this printer, when it probably wasn't the printer that was bad in the first … It is Microsoft screwing with everybody. Garry-

Actor: Was this computer originally a Win X machine or an upgrade from Win 7 ? I had it running on Win XP before installed window 10... I believe that XP was the best and most stable one they put out. I was running into problems with equipment and programs that no were no longer going to be supported by XP. Win 10 Pro promised the backward mobility I needed to continue using these programs, etc.. But now there so-called SECURITY UP GRADES seem to be causing the problems. I personally believe it is nothing more than a scheme by Microsoft. I have tried calling into Microsoft before and after waiting for 2 hours I can't hear or understand the English speaking trash they have working for them.I have a friend that is coming over Weds. that can hear on the phone … so we will probably try calling into Microsoft. I have already decided if thus a bunch of crap, I will certainly file a complaint with the FCC and FTC as I have advised others to do with all of these large corporations.. I agree Gary. Windows 10 is terrible. You want to get together and smash our both at the same time? LOL. You don't have any Tannerite do you? It might be more fun than using hammers. Garry-

Still running 7 Pro here and will as long as I can. My previous operating system was Windows ME. I don't like change... Didn't know about requesting someone having English as their first language.
Eh...wot?

Yes it depends on what state you are in presently. Some states have made it law and others have not. But it is also in the works at the federal level at this time

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...ows/a398070b-94a2-45d9-99ab-1e414e74cfb3It took a few tries because the order of action was key. Canon MX 920 series printer, wireless, giving various error messages (offline, being used by another printer, error) and would not print an email, a Word document or anything from the Internet. But still LOOKED like it was there under Devices. But in Device Manager, only present under Print Ques, not it's own category of Printer (which is where it was when it was fixed). I "removed device" under Devices --Printers & scanners (start menu --> settings --> devices --> printers & scanners --> select Canon MX 920 series printer -->REMOVE DEVICE.) Then --- this is essential -- I restarted the computer. Go to Settings --Devices -- Printers & Scanners...click "ADD printer". First it said "help me find an older version" but a second later it popped up with MX 920 Series. Added printer. Looked in Device manager -- now there was a category that said "Printer" and there it was. Printed a Microsoft document, then an email. Works. Fingers crossed.

Garry- Have you tried it yet. I think mine was longer than 10 days

I have a friend coming over tomorrow, he can hear on the phone, where I can't. I hope we can make contact with Microsoft at that time to see, to if they can do anything about it. I will report back at that time. I do thank all of you that have put forth possible solutions. My computer is only 4 years old and it has high performance components. So they shouldn't be out of line and might help with adjustments. So we will see.
Thank you again.
