So maybe I missed this in another conversation somewhere but are you saying that the lava rocks hold urine? Yes. Got my first Black Lava Rocks when I went to take lessons from James Lucero. Started using them. Just soak in jar with coyote urine. Take then out with tongs. Put them where you want them. Charcoal works. Similar. BUT you soak it to long. It gets soft. Falls apart. Hard to get out with tongs.

If you want that urine smell to stick around awhile put tooth picks in a canning jar sold for jelly. Stand them up in it. Fill it with coyote pee. Put the lid on. After they soak it all up fill it back up about halfway. I tried using dowel rods about the size of a pencil cut to fit in a quart jar. Coyotes will carry them off if they miss the pan. Dont stick around to long. A tooth pick in a grass clump keeps them sniffing if you stick it about half way in the ground. Rain wont kill the smell. Good pointer or tip. Mac

FWIW I dont use toothpicks anymore either. just give a shot in the backing whatever the backing is. When it rains i do what the coyotes do. Re pee on everything

When it quits raining, coyotes really do like to run around and pee on everything

Am going to try it this season. As far as squirt type bottles i wish they would make some with a longer spout for more convenient flipping
TILL THAT DAY.....
