Pensions are ponzi schemes, and are unsustainable. Just like social security and medicare. Unsustainable. But if I start a ponzi scheme, I go to jail. You won't go to jail if you pay off the right politicians and government agents. Keith

I really kind of think unions are the least of our problems! Democrats and republicans both are big spending machines destroying our country, not to mention corporate greed that is lockstep with them. Corporations that get ridiculous green subsidies, disgusting!
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement!

None of the half dozen unions I was ever forced to join did anything for me except steal part of my meager wages for their mandatory dues.
Then they used my money to support political candidates that I was ideologically opposed to and would never vote for.
Thank god that SCOTUS handed down the JANUS DECISION and I was able to opt out of mandatory, forced union membership and they had to cease shaking me down for their union dues.

You were never FORCED to join a union. You shoulnt have taken the jobs if you didn't want. Were you aware they were union jobs when you applied for them? Yes, I was forced to join the union if I wanted to keep the job. But absolutely no benefits from that union membership unless you count the privilege of paying the union mandatory dues as a benefit, lol Did not know about forced, mandatory union membership until after I was hired and was filling out new hire paperwork. Like I said, the SCOTUS JANUS DECISION freed me from mandatory, forced union membership and restored those stolen union dues to my paycheck. walleyed

No one seems to ask,,why did unions even come about in the first place.Hhmmmm I know why, because they were needed. All my kin on both sides were coal miners. My GGpa and his kin helped organize the miners Union in the 20's because they were treated like dogs. They had to work long hours in short coal, no benefits, and barely made enough money to pay rent for the coal company house and pay the grocery bill at the company store. I was raised in a Union house as well, both parents worked in Union shops and a lot of my other kin, they all voted D. Then I got in at a UAW plant, became district steward and then was voted in to Chief Shop Steward of the whole plant. I seen first hand how lazy a lot of the workers were, I had to save a bunch of them because it was my job to save their job. I also seen how corrupt the UAW was, how they misused dues, were in bed with politicians and so on. There was a need for Unions long ago, a true need. However over time they became as useless as our politicians but they sure still wanted those Union dues ever month. IMO, Unions suck and need to go away. Let it all go back to like it was in the early 1900's again. Then they'll be a need for them again.

Wake up people! It is not the unions, it is our 2 party system. If you think unions are the problem at this stage of the game you need to be slapped in the face to see if you are breathing.

Before you crow too loud about Clinton Flat foot. Clinton economyThe bottom line is that the signature achievement of the Clinton years (the surplus) turns out to have been a deep negative. For this drag on GDP was being counterbalanced by low household savings, high household debt, and the real revving up of the Fannie and Freddie debt boom that had a major hand in fueling the boom that ultimately led to the downfall of the economy.

When I was going over the road I always knew within a few minutes if i was at a union business or not. Non union your in and out in a timely fashion. If its a union run business your there for hours. Lazy, unmotivated slackers. Hard to believe that working people are now going to pay their pensions with absolutely no benefit to those that pay.
Boco, i was a teamster from 89 to 91. I decided if I was going to work for the mafia it would be better to just sell illegal narcotics. Then I would at least make serious money and it would be honest even if illegal.
I chose neither path. Gave that job up and went back to work. I was offloading once in Chitown needed 2 riggers a supervisor, and 2 spotters and was told I could not unchain the load myself unless I was union.
