You act like Zelensky is a saint. You don't know the bullying he has done. At best it is a wash between him and Putin when it comes to bullying.

HAHA! Not me. I didn't like commies 50 years ago when I was a kid wearing a green suit and my politics haven't changed since then. I'm probably somewhere to the right of Ronald Regan.
I don't like it that Ukraine was/is a kleptocracy, and we are spending unaccountable billions there while we are trillions of dollars in debt, and the man driving the ship who was involved in that shady Burisma business has trouble articulating coherent sentences.

The same type of people who didn't like us being in Vietnam and didn't want us in Iraq (twice) are now the same people that are all for us getting involved in Ukraine. Why is that?
I want to know some facts before I'll commit.

Anyone here thought that maybe, just maybe, Putin is playing the long game?

Perhaps he learned a good lesson from "star wars" during the Reagan administration when he watched his beloved country fall? He may have very well taken notes on what was the cause and how to avoid it. He may have even studied those notes and figured out a way to combat that circumstance in round two....?

Not a doubt in my mind that Putin is much smarter than the fool running this country. Our economy and country is falling and everyone can see it. We have lost respect for our very own government. I'm pretty sure, the Russian pop is not as divided as we are. Talk all the smack you want, but this country can fall.

Not really sure just throwing money at the problem, with no accounting for where it goes, is standing up to the bully. It's just plain stupid.

All I know is things were going along ok till Putin decided he wanted more. If he gets Ukraine he is not going to stop. As far as Ukraine being bad we need to look at what has gone on in this country and every other country we should all hang our heads. War and killing innocent people is not the answer. What is the justification for Putin creating this mess. Ukraine should have never given up its nucs no more than we should.

We sent them a very big stick. We are paying for their war. The thing about standing up to a bully is its best to do it on your own not having other do it for you.

We have probably sent them more mone in arms than the entire Canadian military budget for the year or last several years. So yes Canada is bleeding some money but it's a fraction of what we are spending. Step up and spend a quarter of what we are and depleting our stock of weapons and then we can talk. Untill them its just feel good moves.

If we still had Trump in instead of this moron, I'd bet this wouldn't be happening.....but it is.

I wonder if Putin created this mess, or was it the ones that fixed Ukraine's election and got Zelenski elected? I am sure the US and Canada were in on that. I would guess it was planned before that ever happened.

Unless the guys here that say we don't know what we don't know, what it is, I'll stick to my theory.

Putin thought he could push Biden around like he did to Obama when he took Crimea. Trouble came because Biden was using Ukraine as a cash cow so now we're backing them.

Let's turn Ukraine into another EU/NATO member state... Full of liberal socialists who worship the welfare state... and who hate guns and fur and want you to eat bugs to end climate change.

Like the UK, and Germany, and France... And like Trudeau is doing to Canada.

The forces at work here do not share our ideas of the American model of liberty. But they'll gladly use your confiscated wealth to enact their idea of what the world should be... And they'll make themselves rich while they're doing it.

But keep cheering them on.

Mike

a better analogy of the bully in the schoolyard would be the scrawny kid was bulling other scrawny kids who happened to be family members of the bully.
The bully then takes after the scrawny kid.

Everyone does realize that Ukraine was killing/persecuting its own citizens because of their Russian heritage?

So again, lots more to this than just a bully in the schoolyard picking on scrawny kid.

While we are trillions in debt and can't find the resources to fix problems in our own country how can anyone justify spending billions that will just benefit the wealthy in our own country (arms mfg co and politicians).

In the meantime Red China watches the world's reaction to the Ukraine affair as they contemplate their next moves with Taiwan. When they do move to take control no doubt many on here will be happy?
