Google Worth &Worth and see what is all the rage with Gen-x and Millennials. The trend started in Europe, moved to South America, and now is growing in North America by leaps and bounds. This would suggest that it's not only Cowboy hats driving the shortage of beaver pelts. Millennials especially consider themselves as non-consumptive shoppers, and try to buy high quality items that last a very long time rather than living like a lot of folks have, shopping for something cheap and throwing it away in a year or two. Even Nieman Marcus has a hand dyed beaver felt hat for $1450.00 I think the beaver market has a long way to run and higher prices seem to be on the horizon (hopefully).

One can also google up an industry report that projects strong growth for the next 5 years in the felt market. With the young generation you just have to hope they don't come up with a vegan felt made out of pussywillows or something.

We will have 3 good years, maybe 4. Then it will be back to the doom and gloom. Maybe we will have a good possum market by then

Gotta live up to the nickname...

With prices of beaver hides going up, it’ll put a hurt on Pennsylvania’s beaver numbers. A lot of trappers, and in many parts of the state there aren’t big beaver numbers now. In another year or two, the Low Beaver Light is gonna start blinking here.

Beaver hide prices up a little, castor prices down alot, so are they really worth much more?

hippie....we gotta figure out a value added market for the castor. Castor scented candles and soaps. Castor flavored craft beers, etc. Help me add to the list!

Don't hold your breath. Look what happened to the coyote market in just one season.

Beaverpeeler had better hope so because we bet a dime and a donut on FHA prices over GFW prices back in March and I have beavers at FHA for the May sale

The coyote market was strong for a lot more than one season.

It's already running out of steam in these parts as the carcass buyers have lowered their prices. I doubt it is due to any real market adjustment, but they are getting swamped with carcass beaver. Traps at every road crossing around here.

Maybe it is because it is nearing the end of the season and they are starting to get bit up?

I have nothing clever to put here.

I agree-responsible trapping as it pertains to beavers taken out of an area,as always, should be the priority.Great time to introduce a youngster to beaver trapping.

The current market doesn't care about fur damage.

Bit up? You are just starting to thaw out and remember it's a total hatter market. I'd say the buyers are getting swamped

The top end is still garment market.
