There is a form of insurance called Errors and Omissions. Not sure if this protects prosecutors.
Fraud is still a crime. Who did Trump commit fraud on? Can't wait to hear this one.

And while you are at it, please provide a list of names of those in NY that have been prosecuted for same thing. Millions of mortgages taken out daily. Thousands if not tens of thousands go into default each day likely resulting in actual losses to lenders No doubt somebody else stretched the truth. If this is a big deal, there must be a lot just like him in the same boat. So name one.

Swamp Wolf, I thought I answered that question, but I'll try again. The victims were other taxpayers who had to shoulder Trump's tax obligations and lenders and other corporate shareholders who relied on Trump's fraudulent statements.
If you file knowingly false, fraudulent statements with the government, you are looking at possible prison time. Every day the IRS sends people to prison. My former dentist served three months and paid a big fine for filing a fraudulent tax return. There's no reason to think Trump was singled out for prosecutions.

Jim Really? The attorney general campaigned on getting Trump any which way she can.

That doesn't bear on the issue of guilt. But Trump's lawyers probably raised that issue, before the judge found Trump guilty of fraud.

Jim No it doesn't , but if Trump wasn't running, I don't believe this case would have ever materialized. As far as the judge is concerned, after his smug smile for the cameras, in my opinion, I would relish a swift slap across the face!

The problem with Trump is he needs to learn to keep his mouth shut and let his attorneys do the talking for him. If he were to ever change, and discontinue speaking his mind and tell it like it is, no matter how cringe-worthy it may be, I wouldn't ever vote for him again. THAT is his appeal. That is why he won in 2016 and 2020, and why he will win in 2024. It is called candor. Candor is what has been missing in the world of politics for 40 years.

So, Trump reportedly "overvalued" his company, properties, etc for tax fraud purposes?
If I possess property that is overvalued then I pay MORE taxes on that property...yes?
He didn't commit fraud on any taxpayer....
Now..I could understand this BS better if he had a hand in UNDERVALUE of his properties...but not overvalued.

I’ve got a minor feud going with Trapdog1 on another post, but couldn’t agree more on this one. That’s what makes these forums great - expanding the mind and seeing other points of view. We are 99% on the same page, but need to pull together for the WIN!

Now..I could understand this BS better if he had a hand in UNDERVALUE of his properties...but not overvalued. Trying to be subjective here and I could be wrong but from what I see/read here is how it goes. As I understand it he overvalued his assets that he used as collateral to obtain more favorable interest rates on loans. When it came to property taxes he undervalued them. For example, they based the value of Mar-A-Lago at $27,000,000 for property taxes but said the value was $490,000,000 when used as collateral to borrow against. Based on the value of $27,000,000 they paid $299,700 in taxes, if they had paid tax based on what they said the value was, $490,000,000, their tax would have been $5,439,000. Again, trying to be subjective and I could be wrong but this is what I have seen and supposedly was submitted to banks. Feel free to correct me if I screwed something up somewhere.

I don't know of anybody who gets to assess their own tax valuation. The government does that, and it is always lower than an actual appraisal. I almost typed that.

It's called appraisal fraud and it's a federal crime. Somewhere along the line a little money changes hands to get it done. Nah, banks want to make money. When I wanted a loan to start a business, the bank themselves upped the assessed value of my house to give me the loan.
