Why so many engines. Chevy. Why not just 350 and 454.
Why have a v6, 302, 327, 350, 396, 400, 402, and 454? I see it as a because you can thing. Kind of like rifle calibers and brands of beer to choose from.

Ended up putting a used roof on it..NOS 1/4 panels...and NOS fenders.
The guy ran out of money...and pulled it out of my shop.
It got finished by someone else ..5 years later...looked good !

I took a job as mechanic at a Chevy dealership around 1981, and was sent to a GM school in MonroVille Pa., just outside Pittsburg.
I had a 402 in my racecar at the time so I asked the instructor about them. He told me they were 396's that had bad bores, and they had alot of them so the decision was made to over bore the blocks and use them.

He opened the trunk and pulled out a jack and two slicks . Won a trophy , put the street tires back on and drove off

My first pickup was a Chevy with a 400 small block and a 400 turbo transmission. Keeping tires and gas in that thing was nearly a full time job LOL.
