I was recently in portage Wisconsin because of a family member who passed.. my cousin suggested a restaurant there and they had snails on the menu.
Our group decided that we would all at least try one…
My impression,, a chewy piece of something that tastes like dirt.
Not something that I really would eat again.
Any one else try one with the same impression??
However… the dipping sauce for the mozzarella cheese was absolutely the best tasting marinara sauce I’ve ever tasted…. And the steak was amazing… every bite was super tender,,, and the marbling and carmelized portions was flat out delicious!!!

I had escargot on a cruise about 25 years ago, I thought it pretty good. My wife ordered it as an appetizer and I ordered something else thinking she would not eat it when she saw it and then I could eat it. She shocked me, she actually liked it. Haven't had in for a long time as no restaurants around here have it on their menu's

Eaten escargot many times on cruise ships. Always tasted like garlic butter mushrooms to me. Give or take them, but I like the little fancy fork they come with.

I usually order RARE Prime rib and a side of Escargot.I love them snails.Soak up the garlic oil after with some crustini bread. YUM.A good Cabernet pairs nicely.

I liked it.

I had land snails when i was in Spain, Catalona region. Little black boogery things that werent worth the effort to pull out of their little shells. I was not impressed.

I have seen them in specialty Italian food shops in cans. Now Im tempted.

Had them once was tasted like chewy river mud. The butter garlic sauce was good though.

I could not get passed diggin it out of the shell !

But I don't eat things that grovel in the mud !!!

On special occasions, can't do better than escargot as an appetizer and a big medium rare steak with all the fixings.

Gastropod same as Abalone . Had a friend try some Hairy Triton snails once not knowing they were toxic. Within 30 minutes it was coming back out both ends of him. Snails remind me too much of slugs-nasty. Doubt I’ll ever even try one.

Always order them on a cruise because if I don’t like it I can always order something else. After about 6 times trying them, I still don’t like them.

Ate many in philippines and italy. Trick is cleaning them. To me they taste like the big chunk of marrow in chicken. You have to squeeze the muck out. Cleaned many
