To all the fibs out there I have one question. Don't you have lakes in Illinois??? You come up here to the north and rape our lakes, buy up all the property's and stay for 2weeks a year and act like we owe you the service! Take a ride down the Wolf river during the white bass run. Its literally boat to boat along both shores! Look at the registration stickers....... yep Fibs. If you find a quiet spot, gaurentee some stupid fib will literally start casting into your boat!!!! Had it happen more times than you can imagine. All this over some rough fish that aren't that tasty anyways. Not they are gonna start pulling guns??? Wonder if he was even here legally??? I could go on but rant over for today. I have the same questions for everyone in the L48 who comes vacationing here. I get visiting , and if they would visit and go home , that would be fine. they come here and make a nuisance of their ignorance and demand we change the way we do just about everything. they have this weird bravado machoism that they have to prove something. they are here to get away from Chicago but want to like Cali folks drag their broken thinking with them. maybe people who visit AK do that also , I have never been there but I don't think I would tell you how to live if I am there to visit.

Whats a FIB?
PS some of you ought not to leave your township The old term was "Flatlander" Apparently, this was too kind. I have often wondered what the FIBS call their Wisconsin friends? I have never really heard any good ones?

I don't get any of that
10yds is 30ft Just how far can you run a lure around under the ice through a 6" hole?
Guy that pulled a gun needs beating within an inch of his life and his running buddy could use a roughing up too
If you are that hot headed you will soon run into the wrong person and find yourself meeting Jesus when you get a 30 inch fish on it can make runs , there are rainbow , brown and lake trout , as well as King salmon , bass , northern all capable of making more than a 30 foot run durring the fight especially if you are running tip ups aka fish traps basically , they are allowed to run with the line which releases a flag so you know you have a fish on then you run over to it and start the fight 30 feet or not it is the not being decent about how you respond to an ask.

If I ever go how far is far enough? Serious question.
Do you use a portable sonar to pick your spots or just go where you have done well in the past?

not to pick on everyone stuck in IL there are 102 counties in IL an it is maybe 15 that are the issue and they are mostly in the NE corner touching or next to a county that touches Cook county. Cook has about 5.5 million people and the NE corner has about 10.5 million of the 12.5 million people in the state
forgotten about IL is a nice place with bad laws set by the cook county area sprawl and there in lies much of the issue.

If not for the gun laws I would live in southern IL. I love the country. I saw some news where indiana is talking about trying to take over some of IL. it won't happen but would be nice if it did.

Do you use a portable sonar to pick your spots or just go where you have done well in the past? Some people don't care if your close enough to pass a beer and some get mad if your 100' away. If there's a bunch of people or houses together you can join the fray, if someone is out by themselves probably just leave them alone. As far as finding fish, usually not a problem for me, no matter where I go I don't find fish.

1. There's no such thing as " etiquette" when it comes to using a public resource. The people that were there first should have minded their own business or gone to a new spot 2. The second people shouldn't have set up that close 3. The second people need to know when to not be aggressive.
Last spring turkey hunting, this guy and his kid set up 40 yards from my blind. I saw them and quietly walked into my blind and sat till dark. They left as soon as I sat down and flipped me off a couple times and cussed me out ( I think) as they walked away. I'm not claiming a breach of some unspoken etiquette code, they followed the laws. The fact that so many of these people try to enforce their etiquette on other people is BS.

CJ Brown reservoir in Springfield, Ohio is getting bad too, mostly from Somalis. A good friend of mine who was Special Operations in the Airforce and a friend of his, I know somewhat, who is a Ohio State Patrol Officer, stopped fishing there because they think they may have to arrest someone while fishing there or even use deadly force.
Keith there is a crap ton of illegals who fish round here, they always take ALOT of fish also

If there's a bunch of people or houses together you can join the fray, if someone is out by themselves probably just leave them alone. As far as finding fish, usually not a problem for me, no matter where I go I don't find fish. Pretty basic concept. They cruise along the sea walls - anywhere from 3' away to 100's of feet away and cruise almost anywhere in between. Yes, some structure or obstacles will create funnels where they pass along more concentrated. No real need for a flasher other than checking depth, which isn't too important in some harbors. Kenosha has spots of greater depth than say Racine. Also, because the depth is relatively shallow, less than 15feet, your cone width isn't very wide. By the time yoou see the flash, they inhaled a FinSfish or bladebait and off to the races This vid is in Kenosha. If you google map it (satelite view) you'll see they are at the ramp- all the way up in the harbor. Sure did enjoy the 70's /80's when everyone thought we were nuts for icefishing here
