Never heard them called pealegumes!

Another vote for pistachios.
Hickory nuts are too much like picking blue crabs. I'm no good a ether one. If some else does it for me, I'm all in for both though.
I'd like to hear about softshell hickory nut where you eat them shell and all like softshell crabs.

Cashews, for sure can eat them all year long, I found out they are not good for kidney stones, which I suffer from, so I had to really tone it down on having large amounts of them.

Can't give them up I like them so much so only get them during the late holiday time for a treat !

Cashews, pistachios, peanuts. My son is allergic to all of it so i only eat them on the road working, not in the house.

Walnuts are the best for the omega-3 (most other nuts are higher in omega-6), and since I need a higher ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 in my diet, walnuts are my top choice. They're generally not salted, though, because they go rancid faster than other nuts when roasted, so they aren't my favorite flavor. I suppose I could roast and salt them myself.

I learned that from Walter Westinghouse (The Residents were founded in Louisiana before they moved to San Francisco).

That's what they were called in southern Utah when I was a kid too.

Grandpa called them the same. He was a Yooper, never lived in the South.

Hickory nuts are so labor intensive, I am pretty sure you burn more calories getting the meat out of the shell than the nut actually has.
But they are used in one my family's Christmas cookie recipes, so I shell some every year.

my grandma had the big bowl in the living room on the coffee table around Christmas , and a couple hand nut crackers and a bowl for the shells
I think that is why I like the hickory nuts

it did occur to me I left out pistachios , I am a pistachio addict when they get in the house , stand at the kitchen table shelling them and eating them can't believe I forgot them in my list.
they would be right after cashews in amount consumed.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Sunflower seeds. They're nuts aren't they? If nuts are seeds, then seeds can be nuts.
