Yuins what live next to cricks. Do y'all warsh your trousers in those cricks?
If you were to read "creek", would you still say crick? I would be cool with that, but I don't understand why you feel the need to spell it wrong though.

Grew up in western NY. A neighboring town had a road named "Creek road". In 20-some years never heard a single person pronounce it any way other than crick.

The difference between a stream and a creek is whether it has a name on a map, and the difference between a creek and a crick is whether it runs through a farm.

We have streams, creeks, and rivers, depends where they are , where they start, and where they end up...but our creeks are always pronounced cricks

Regional dialect. I have a great employee that works for me from San Angelo TX. I understand the Hispanics BETTER than I can understand his accent! Pittsburgh is different but east Texas is unintelligible.

I grew up hearing crick for creek. The valley between two hills called a saddle. I always thought saddle and holler were the same thing if you were not talking about tack? A dry sandy, gravely, dry crick bed was an arroya but spelled arroyo. the word corral pronounce core el and around here its called a pen. Always heard ponds called dirt tanks.

I have a capped spring right behind my house. It runs down a ditch, makes a sharp left turn, drops around 148 feet over the course of the ditch and then disappear into the ground. The capped Spring runs about 10 months out of the year. At least 4 other, unimproved springs also empty into that ditch. Another big spring runs towards it and disappears into the same spot. A more temporary spring comes in at a right angle to the other two and also disappears in the same spot.

After heavy rains, the bigger ditch can have over a 15' wide embanked flow that is over 3' deep, with some water escaping the banks. All that water still disappears into the ground. It's somewhat amazing. There has to be a cave or sinkhole, covered with gravel.

Perfect! I have successfully flushed out all of the crickbillies in here. A good many of them anyway.
Now if I can figure out how to stealthily draw out all the warshbillies. I have more respect for them. I come from a long line of them actually. At least they don't spell it wrong. lol

Hey! I resemble that remark. LOL

A spring originates on my property and flows down through a neighboring farm.

The Pennsylvania Stream Map calls it an Unnamed Tributary to Pine Creek.

We call it “the spring crick.”

The spring crick does a great job of removing the odor from caught skunks that have sprayed. An overnight soak, a day to dry and they’re ready to skin.

It is also the site of our annual early spring Rubber Ducky Race as well as an endless source of entertainment for grandkids exploring for tadpoles, crayfish and all sorts of other aquatic critters.

Eh...wot?

I shall make a vibrant effort to enunciate properly in my quest for discussion on this venue However since our brooks and streams in the region of my domicile are thoroughly ensconced by a myriad of cedars tag alders and multiple willow species a properly heeled gentleman with rod and fly would experience extreme difficulty in his quest for trout Perhaps such a harrowing experience would result in said sportsman's seeking medical attention for several cricks in his skeletonal structure

Better than being one of those old fogies with plaid shorts pulled up over their belly button, riding around in a canoe trolling for a trout or two, and then saying they caught them when in fact the trout caught themselves, lol.

In Pittsburgh it is Pine Crick. We also call people from Virginia Jagoff$

I don't believe that we are allowed to call each other that in here. That's mean. Besides that, everybody who is intact surely does it, thus I am not offended, if that was your intention kind sir.

I'm surprised somebody hasn't mentioned runs.

Around my camp in north central PA every crick is called a run. Elk Lick Run, Indian Shanty Run, Beech Flats Run, Gravel Lick Run, Ole Bull Run, Wild Boy Run, Ayers Shanty Run, there's dozens of them.

Eh...wot?
