"Von Mises on Free Trade Ludwig von Mises was a strong advocate for free trade. He believed that the free flow of people, goods, and capital were essential components of the ideal international system. According to von Mises, free trade promotes peace and prosperity, as it allows for the exchange of ideas and productivity, which can help avoid demands for colonialism and lebensraum that can lead to wars. He also argued that free trade leads to more efficient outcomes, as it reflects true supply and demand dynamics based on the preferences and available information of individual market participants." As long as other governments protect their markets, there will be no free trade. It doesn't matter how much the US Republicans say they are are for it, all sides have to participate.

It stands for stealing our children's future “The Fed would be MUCH better off CUTTING RATES as U.S.Tariffs start to transition (ease!) their way into the economy,” Trump wrote. “Do the right thing. April 2nd is Liberation Day in America!!!” So much for the children.

Trump has always been in favor of cutting rates.
I don't agree with him

With almost $37,000,000,000,000 (trillion of National debt). Folks don't understand that going on a fiscal diet is no different than going a weight loss diet. It's going to be no fun, it's painful at times, especially if you are much accustomed to overeating. That's about as simple of an explanation as can be, and I didn't coin it, it came as an excerpt from the Wall Street Journal. AND, the end result if you stick to the plan, (diet) is beneficial to America and all American's. Just not as pleasant to the folks with their hands out for free stuff.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

It is a stretch and a huge one to believe businesse are going to invest hundreds of billions to build plants and factories that have long term horizons, when their balance sheets are dropping rapidly and impacting their leverage, their interest rates on monies borrowed etc.
Bryce And what happens - with a real possibility - everything is undone in four years.

Bryce Foreign companies are already pledging trillions of $$$ to build manufacturing plants in the U.S. The United States is, by far, the largest consumer of any nation on the planet. It would stand to reason, we hold a pretty decent poker hand. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/04/full-5494-254042-1000000805.png)

We can't continue to be a debtor, consumer nation. Time to bite the bullet and right the ship.
There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.
