Just out of curiosity,,, where do you guys like your notches on the trigger for your bodygrips?
For my raccoon and beaver, I set on the heaviest,,
My way of thinking is similar to a foothold,,,
When the most pressure is applied, the deeper the catch,, perfect whack behind the ears..
I feel the lightest setting is going to result in a bunch of whacked noses.
The only exception is my 110 or 160 on land that is intentionally set for mink.. they have an uncanny ability to worm through those triggers,,, even with bell shaped triggers and piano wire strung across the trigger.

Your thoughts??

Stand by your principles, Stand by your guns, and victory complete and permanent is sure at last.

Dry land front notch, water back notch.

You're only going to whack a nose of a cook if you're using a 55 or with the back jaw of the trap but the front jse will be ok the neck. Especially if you free float the triggers. They'll be deep in the trap but you don't have the hard trigger which could cause refusals or hip catches/suit cases.

No or minimal current = front notch.

Fast current = back notch.

Front notch 100 percent of the time. Belisle/Duke Supermag 330's and 280's. I try to set fully submerged 100 percent of the time too

Gotta live up to the nickname...

The back/rear one. For chucks, possums and skunk. And for the occasional raccoon that gets accidentally caught.

The first notch unless there’s flowing water or a baited trigger involved, then more tension is key

Front notch, unless in current then the back. Trigger set up is important. Off to the side quite often, T, V sometimes……all depends.
All Belisle traps.

Whatever it takes to get them squeezed tight on my stands. Really makes no difference to me.

On my Mink sized ones, whichever it stays set on.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

For beaver, I use whatever notch that gets the tightest fit on whatever I'm using as a stabilizer. For mink and weasel, always the outside notch
