We already have laws against drunk driving, beating your kids or wife, bar fights, etc. What else do you want? Ten people read the bible and get ten different opinions. Anybody think they are always right? You’re starting to grow on me! you didn't already think the world of Danny? I thought everyone did!!

It does say grumpy old man under my name. I do my best to keep it at a dull roar.

Let's consider wine/beer/liquor from a non religious point of view. No Bible. No Jesus.
What is the purpose of alcohol in this context? How about enjoyment, does that qualify as an acceptable purpose? If not, why would anyone drink anything other than water?

According to the American Medical Association, a glass of wine, a beer, or a shot of 'spirits' every day is recommended. Sadly, I fail to keep up with that practice. A little Scotch Whisky at bed time helps me go to sleep. So there is that. Charlie

Scott, M.D. President, American Medical Association “The American Medical Association applauds the Surgeon General’s work to make completely clear the link between alcohol consumption and increased cancer risk. For years, the AMA has said that alcohol consumption at any level, not just heavy alcohol use or addictive alcohol use, is a modifiable risk factor for cancer. And yet, despite decades of compelling evidence of this connection, too many in the public remain unaware of alcohol’s risk. Today’s advisory, coupled with a push to update the Surgeon General’s health warning label on alcoholic beverages, will bolster awareness, improve health, and save lives.”

I know a lot of people want to drink. That's fine. We are all adults and make our own choices.
Just make accurate statements when it comes to alcohol. Drink all you want when you want.

I limit and go to bed when I feel I’ve had enough. It DOES cloud the mind. And that makes saying “enough” difficult. I’m happy to say that I wake up without a pounding headache from too much beer 99 percent of the time. You are right, we are all responsible for our actions.

What is the purpose of alcohol in this context? How about enjoyment, does that qualify as an acceptable purpose? If not, why would anyone drink anything other than water? It is definitely an acceptable preference. To me, beer tastes like reheated corn on the cob. Wine tastes like cough syrup. Liquor just burns. I know, I know, I haven't had any good "whatever". FOR ME AS MY PREFERENCE, I don't like the taste of any of it and I have tried too many to count. I was never an alcoholic, but I did drink a lot on the weekends in the military, even though I never liked the taste. Got out and just did not see the use. Chose not to drink anymore. Started seeing a correlation between those that did not drink and those in great health. I mean athletic health, not just good blood pressure and low cholesterol. Again, I don't see the need for alcohol but some people need it and want it. So be it. Just don't tell me alcohol can be good for you. I am being honest. I hope everyone else can be. AGAIN, if you like the taste of it, drink up. Your choice and preference. There ya go. If you choose not to drink, you will be healthier.
