Blowing off a little steam here, but I can not believe the increase of brain dead drivers or begin to comprehend what the heck they are thinking when entering an interstate at 1/2 the speed of existing traffic. Just seems as if every few months its getting worse.

I made a quick run to Indiana from WI. Easy drive down I94 and over to I65. I was at my legal limit of weight and know I have a breaking distance of about 300 feet to make a hard stop. Time after time I encountered vehicles putting along the on ramp and just stroll into the existing traffic lane at 30-50 mph in a 65-70 mph zones. EVERY recognized method of driver's education teaches people that when entering an on-ramp, it is your responsibility to get up to speed and merge into traffic. Plus the existing traffic has the right-of-way. My loaded truck with right-of-way Vs a 3000# car is like a fly swatter vs a nat. How can we have so many oblivious drivers on the road? Are these people looking for assisted suicide??

People are just idiots when it comes to interstates.

My favorite is the fool that loves the left lane and tries to cross four lanes when he sees his exit out his right side window.

In other countries the person merging onto the interstate has the right of way FYI. I thought that was crazy when I found that out. Look at traffic in India. Imagine how many foreigners are here. Imagine those 20,000 Haitians in Springfield Ohio that were supposedly eating ducks and geese out of the park... they are out there driving too, but alls anyone could talk about was the ducks and geese. They hit a school bus and killed a kid over there actually I think. If you are a driver then there are plenty of complaints about foreign truck drivers even too right? Gettin kinda sporty out there. They added a third lane on my way home that ends... everyday people race to the end of it and get over... then everyone hits their breaks... then the backup starts from them cutting over... Really stinks.

Too many idiots that don't move over for them if they try entering at speed, so next time they don't trust being able to merge and might have to stop.

Just had that happen to me. I came up the ramp at speed, watching the car that I needed to move over so I could enter but nope, I had to slam on the brakes to let them past.

Just idiots everywhere.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

These are the same crowd that parks their Subaru in front of the only diesel pump when there are 5 gas only pumps open, then gets out and leans against their car and starts talking on their cell phone. Oh, and don't forget the ever popular come up the on ramp get to speed and merge into traffic and then slam on the brakes. Another crowd favorite is the one who is behind you on the on ramp, you are coming up to speed to merge but as soon as you get to the top of the ramp they whip out come up beside you and then apparently go to sleep because they are no longer in such a hurry to get anywhere.

Everyone knows there is only one car sitting at the diesel pump when you are pulling your trailer and need diesel. It used to drive me crazy but they just don't ever need diesel (let alone pull a trailer) so they don't consider it. If they look receptive I explain it to them sometimes. I've had people think I'm crazy though too.

What about the moron that comes to a dead stop at the bottom of the on ramp to wait for a break in traffic?

I usually get on the Interstate at remote, rural overpasses. Have learned to look back down the lane I will need to merge into to search for holes in the oncoming traffic. Then try to time entry to hit the hole. Otherwise, it's inevitable that when I get to the end of the ramp, there will be two cars or trucks running two abreast.......and no room at the inn. If passing a car or truck......especially trucks at an overpass, I will lay back and block for the truck to give him room to get over. Part common courtesy and part common sense.

I get irritated when a pick up has the double pumps truck lane blocked. Open pumps in the 4 wheeler lanes but they go to the truck pumps.

I dont know whats worse. Being blocked by the guy beside you so can't mover over for the guy who refuses to yield right of way or the idiot that hits his brakes when he is ahead of you in the acceleration lane.

Sometimes the truck blocking the double pumps is the fault of the fuel vendor, at some stations our fleet cards would only work on the truck lanes, but otherwise if they aren't pulling a trailer I get your point.

One instance stands out in my memory. I come rolling up to jump into the traffic going in a circle. A fellow, already in the pattern slams on his brakes and I could read his lips yelling at me “ you have to stop”! LOL!

Me, I gas it when I see the room for me. Either lead, follow, or get out of the way!

If someone is driving poorly around here, they typically look Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Asian or Arabic. I think they mostly didn't drive before coming to the US. I bet those nationalities are responsible for most accidents in Columbus. I frequently see them standing on the side of the road near multiple vehicle, traffic accidents.

been in 7 states and 3-4 major metro areas ,Nashville , Atlanta , Charleston , this week

I was in Charleston yesterday and guess what I found ?

A FIB

yup she almost hit me , she saw I was signaling and starting to take the spot she wanted , she floored and made sure it was hers

Bears sticker and all

other than that part where you can't get there from here in Low country the drivers are decent.
13 miles as the crow flies , hour and 9 minute trip one way cause the mini van isn't amphibious

you drove through FIB land and are surprised at the bad driving , remember 1/2 of Kenosha county is FIB xpats and the same in Western Indiana they may have diched the blue plates but they didn't change their ways.

I live in the northeast not too far from NYC & NJ - about an hour away.

Lots and lots of vehicles , constant competition for any piece of asphalt. You need to have your head on a swivel to drive around here.

The preferred way here to enter a highway via on ramp merger is to be going 5mph faster than the flow of traffic when you are ready to merge. This gives you two options. One is to go just a bit faster to slip into a spot without cutting someone off or crowding them. The second is to let off the gas just a bit to slide in behind someone again , without crowding them.

Sadly , a lot of people can't merge and are literally afraid of pushing down hard on the gas pedal.

I solve this by never going on the interstate unless I absolutely have to.
