Wow, pretty painful even with the morphine they gave me at the ER. Passed one Saturday night, another Sunday night. And how come everything like this happens in the middle of the night and on the weekend? At least with me it does.

I have had them for over 30 years now, last year finally could not pass two of them, had to go in and get a CT scan, both on the right side, both over 13 mm no way they were going any where but bigger

I thought the stones were a tough thing to get thru, the surgery for me was worse than having them by a large margin

No did not feel anything until the next day and then, whoa look out, there is a reason they always tell you it's not that bad, nope it's worse, three weeks of a stint, got it out finally and then another 2 weeks of fire twice a day minimum !

I could pass the stones, after I had gotten used to how to deal with them even the big ones, still have a little bottle of them for show and tell, all shapes all size except them two.

Changed my diet lots of water, no more carbonated drinks of any kind, doc said my uric acid had taken over and was a building factory for them, now thats under control, still have a constant pain in the right side after almost a year after surgery.

Kidney doctor took over the urologist's job and has me on five different pills , both kidneys clean of stones, but now my diagnosis is chronic stage 3 kidney failure due to the stones abuse and my metabolism, diet and age, a major blood draw every six months now when I see him, but says we got the failure stabilized and if I stay well will not need dialysis !!

All this brought on by an automobile/truck accident my wife had one day taking her turn to get kids to school, we lost our two youngest boys due to it and she was shaken up pretty bad as well, now things are over but the wear and tear of your body reacting to such a nightmare, my system changed in one year back then and messed up pretty badly, but you go on.

People when you feel something thats not regular , get it looked into, it could save you many more years that you might not get other wise !! I learned late, but I still have time to move forward, don't mess around with questions about your system!!

Cleanse drops work wonders for me, keep a bottle in the medicine cabinet. Usually pass them within 3 hours of taking. Known as the "Stone Breaker".

What's the best way to prevent getting them?

I had 2 stones over 13mm. Had to have surgery x2 with stints, lasers, etc.

Cut out 2-3 Mt. Dews a day and switched to slamming water.

Having the issue once was enough for me to drastically change lifestyle.

One of the more painful experiences for me. Went thru all the procedures and surgery, plus wearing a stent for 6 months while I trapped in Arkansas. I still have my stent.

Morphine has no effect on me. Had two shots and the drip machine once with zero relief. I read that 4% of people have the same results. Other drugs work but not morphine.

Drinking lots of water is your friend. I had them sense being a little kid, never knew what was wrong just terrible pain. I was in a dentist office reading a men’s health magazine about them and bingo that’s what has been going on most of my life. Now I know when I feel one coming on and water helps.

Had three different nurses in the hospital tell me they’d rather give birth again than pass kidney stones. All 3 were smiling while they were telling me too.

Used to have them often, to the point of surgery. DR told me to take a cranberry capsule or juice. I take one capsule every day and a couple good drinks of cranberry juice every day now. Haven't had a stone in about ten years.

I pass smaller ones pretty regular, if I start to have trouble I take Flomax it opens things up so it pass more easily, but they still hurt.

I have had many bouts of kidney stones. From sand up to clinkers. For me the usual problem zone is from the kidney into the bladder. After that there is some scratching pain.

I hope none of you fellow stone sufferers ever have a staghorn stone. It is like a small snagging treble hook. That one blocked the system for many hours which caused pain worse than most stones. Lots of drugs relaxed the plumbing and it moved enough to release the flow. After 5 days i was able to pass it. Every inch cut and tore. The last 6-7 inches were extremely painful and when it finally came out, it had tissue clinging to the hooks. It made my eyes water. Caught it in a filter.
